Britain’s leading franchisors, coaches and mentors gathered together for The HSBC Elite Franchise Top 10 Virtual Roadshow, giving tips, advice and guidance on what it takes to build a successful franchise.

Imogen Clarke, Head of Franchise Development for Home Instead, led the seventh keynote speech, speaking about Home Instead’s mission to providing top quality at-home care, creating a haven for their clients in the comfort of their own homes. “At Home Instead we provide the highest quality of care and that is to older people in their own homes so they can stay there for as long as possible which is exactly where they want to be,” Imogen said.

Home Instead focuses on building their caregiver and client relationships, which they believe is fundamental to ensuring high client satisfaction in helping them bond with their carer. “What tends to happen is you have your caregivers and your clients matched on mutual interest and hobbies, our minimum call time is an hour and you send the same caregiver to that client and they can really build up a strong relationship... We are very much a vision led company so our vision is to change the face of ageing. We want to support people in living full and rewarding lives so they can continue to do the things they’ve always done, whether it’s going out into the local community, interacting in hobbies they used to do. We’ve got several clients that we support in horse riding, playing golf, and many different things.

Home Instead focuses on all-rounded care by immersing their clients in their favourite hobbies and activities, which they believe will increase their quality of life and allow them to thrive. “We believe there is so much more to care than the standard personal care. So, something like helping somebody in and out of bed, that is something that is very much needed. But there is so much more going on that the client used to enjoy, and that’s exactly what we’re here to do and support people in.”

Home Instead was awarded Franchisor of the Year at the BFA HSBC British Franchise Awards and have been named the number 1 franchisor in the Elite Franchise Top 100, with a proven track record of providing high-quality care to the masses. Home Instead has over 225 franchises across the UK with 50 new available territories to target the region that has been untouched, as well as 6 long-standing businesses that are up for grabs. “We map out each of our territories really carefully where we look at demographics for the right type of client and the right type of caregiver, both are really important,” Imogen said. ‘That means we support you to build your business from scratch.”

Home Instead provides a high level of support to its franchisees, with a large team of 80 dedicated staff members helping businesses grow and succeed. “We have 80 team members and we’re here to support on a vast range of different areas, and they all match up in the structure of your business. So that might be marketing, IT, looking at your business and their financials, business development, recruitment, there are so many different areas that we have... And so with 225 officers, we have a really strong support ratio. For every three franchise offices, we’ve got one member of the team here. Really strong for the franchising sector, particularly for a franchisor of our size.”

Franchisees do not need to have a background in care to join Home Instead, so budding business owners with experience in various industries can apply. “We are a management franchise, which means that we don’t look for somebody with a background in care. We look for somebody who wants to run a very rewarding and successful business.”
