Why do you need a business coach?

Britain’s leading franchisors, coaches and mentors gathered together for The HSBC Elite Franchise Top 10 Virtual Roadshow, giving tips, advice and guidance on what it takes to build a successful franchise.

Elite Franchise’s Top 10 businesses spoke about how they built their successful franchises, giving out some much-needed advice to struggling firms.

James Vincent, Franchise Partner Performance Coach at ActionCoach led the second keynote speech, speaking about business coaching – and why it is important for SMEs in today’s current climate.

If you want to be the best in your field and have a desire to learn, you need to have a ‘champion’ mindset just like an athlete – and that is exactly what a business coach is for. A business coach will guide you in your journey, helping you reach your goals in a structured manner, and also give you that extra push and support you need.

“If you were not afraid to fail or be judged, what would you do?” James said. “You’re all here looking at investing in a business. It’s a really important question. In fact, that’s a classic coaching question. The goal is to move everything in your way so you can succeed. So how can you stack the odds in your favour? It’s simple – get a coach. People choose coaching based on their desire to learn and improve. Why do athletes have coaches? Because they want to improve, they want to win, they want to be crowned best, they want to be champion.”

Founded in 1993, ActionCoach has been rated both 5-star for franchise satisfaction and the Elite Franchise UK Top 10, with 250 coaches operating nationwide. They pride themselves in a coaching programme that is cohesive and structured with guaranteed results and if not, clients will get a return of investment within six months of coaching. By 2030, ActionCoach plans to have 2000 businesses coaches operating in the UK with a £1 million-a-year coaching firm.

“One of our core values is abundance, and we believe there is enough for everybody,” James explained. “We believe that everybody can be successful. One of the stats that Scott showed earlier on is that 60% of businesses outside of franchisors fail within the first five years. And a more horrifying statistic is how many of them survive the first five years that fail the next five. So only 4% of businesses outside of franchising actually reach their 10th birthday. Which is an awful statistic. And that’s why we exist, to help businesses grow.”
