Baby Sensory’s Say Hello to the Sun topples Baby Shark on the UK children’s music iTunes chart

Despite being written nearly two decades ago by preschool franchise Baby Sensory, Say Hello to the Sun briefly kicked Baby Shark off the UK iTunes' chart top spot for children

Baby Sensory’s Say Hello to the Sun topples Baby Shark on the UK children’s music iTunes chart

Pinkfong’s Baby Shark might still be swimming around in both parents and children’s heads. However, it seems a franchisor’s song is giving it a run for its money after Say Hello to the Sun claimed the top spot on iTunes Children’s Music Song chart on Friday February 28. The song has since slipped back to second place but is still ahead of the likes of Elton John’s Can You Feel the Love Tonight, Randy Newman’s You’ve Got a Friend in Me and Phil Collins’ On My Way.”

Say Hello to the Sun was originally penned by Lin Day, founder of preschool franchise Baby Sensory, over 20 years ago and recorded in 2003. Day composed the song in France, while she was inspired by nature. The song was written in unison with a parent’s heartbeat to provide comfort for children. According to Day, a number of actions that are easy to mimic are used in the song to help developmental learning.”

Commenting on the inspiration she felt when writing the song, Day said: “The sun was shining and I could still see the moon in the afternoon sky. The sight inspired me to write the Say Hello to the Sun lyrics and the melody for the children at my nursery school. The children were always fascinated by the universe and nature so this song helped them to remember what they saw, heard and learned not to mention helping them to relax and open their eyes to the incredible world around them.”

Baby Sensory has since its inception become part of WOW World Group, the franchisor who’s brands now includes Baby Foundations, Toddler Sense, Mini Professors, KeepaBeat and Reading Fairy – all of which aim to help young children grow and learn. And with the popularity of Say Hello to the Sun, it seems Baby Sensory is doing its part to help.”
