St Helier gym is one of
nine new locations for Watford-based health and fitness franchise.

With national lockdown set to ease over the coming few weeks and months, health franchise Anytime Fitness UK has announced that nine new gyms will be opening before the end of May. The UK wing of this global business currently operates at 175 locations around the region, which includes Ireland and the Channel Islands.

And they are delighted to be opening their first ever club in Jersey, which breaks new ground for this ever-expanding brand. The St Helier gym opens this week, and will be followed by eight other new territories during April and May. These will be in Addlestone, Ashford, Daventry, Epsom, Fulham, Newark, Solihull and Penarth.

These new additions will be owned by a combination of business partners. Some are existing franchisees, keen to expand their portfolios, while others are new to the Anytime Fitness network. CEO, Neil Randall, said: “As we start to see the light at the end of the tunnel, we’re proud to be able to support more ambitious entrepreneurs in fulfilling their dreams of owning their own businesses.

“Some of these owners have had openings delayed by over nine months and can’t wait to open their doors to their local communities. The past year has seen a lot of people reassess their life and business objectives, and it’s been great for us to be able to welcome new faces to the network.

“While we continue to call for further Government financial support, following a tumultuous 12 months for our industry, it’s important to look forward positively and celebrate these latest success stories. It’s vitally important that our brand is able to make more facilities available to communities across our network and improve the health and wellbeing of the nation. It’s needed now more than ever.”

From their headquarters in Watford, Anytime
Fitness UK
has noticed a significant increase in demand from those desperate to live a healthier life. The St Helier club in Jersey recruited 750 members ahead of its grand opening, as the island’s four-month lockdown period came to an end.

Connor Thorne, director of Anytime Fitness St
Helier
, explained: “We’re so excited to be able to open the first 24-hour health club in Jersey. It’s been great to see the reaction from people on the island and it even surpasses London in terms of the public’s interest in health and wellbeing. It’s brilliant to be able to open and we’re looking forward to growing with the island.”
