Franchising is a lucrative business, but even more so if you’re a multi-unit franchisee. Some franchises are taking their business to the next level and owning multiple outlets across the country, expanding their stores and generating more profits. One Papa John’s franchisee is now opening their fourth store in the UK, with plans for a fifth one early next year.

Papa John’s franchisee, Atif Atif Maroof Zar and his brothers Umair Ramay and Amir Maroof will be opening their fourth store in Bristol Kingswood, with the aim to become “bigger and better” as the family-run business currently operate three other units across the country.

“Being a multi-unit franchisee is hard work but there is more potential to develop,” Atif said. “Our aim is to become ‘bigger and better’ and only Papa John’s offers this chance for expansion! As a team, myself and my brothers work well together to manage all the stores.  Umair is focused on staff, looking after recruitment and timetables to ensure we have the right people working at the right time. Amir manages the food ordering processes and I oversee the operations and marketing of the business. It’s a real family affair!”

Atif previously worked at two other pizza companies and was a manager at a Papa John’s store before deciding to own a franchise, explaining how their quality ingredients and exceptional taste was what attracted him to the business idea.

“I worked at two rival pizza firms previously and, also as a manager at a Papa John’s store, before deciding to become a franchisee in 2017, he said. “With Papa John’s, it was clear that the food quality was much higher than any other brand and so we expected to sell more pizza and we did!   Hinkley was the first franchised outlet.  It came up for sale and I went for it!   We also run Redditch, Bromsgrove and now Bristol Kingswood.”

Papa John’s has helped the family-run firm every step of the way, with marketing assistance and the essential tools to help them expand their stores effectively to become a successful multi-unit franchisee in the process.

“Papa John’s has been able to offer some tempting incentives to help us expand,” Atif added. “Assistance with marketing and deals on equipment show Papa John’s commitment to multi-unit franchisees. This contribution is one of the key ingredients for our success so far.”

With over 400 stores in the UK and 5,000 stores internationally, Papa John uses quality ingredients in its pizzas, sourcing only fresh dough and hand-picked tomatoes from the vine. The pizza chain offers multi-unit franchise opportunities throughout the UK, providing the needed assistance to get all stores up and running.

It is essential franchisees learn the ins and outs about the company they wish to franchise for to truly understand if it is the right fit for them. And if so, how the brand can fit in to their region, what types of competitors there are, and learn about the success stories of other franchisees in the business.
