Children’s franchise brands feature heavily on EF100 ranking despite difficult year

The Elite Franchise Top 100 (EF100) is an annual ranking of the top 100 franchise brands, taking into account their size, growth, ambitions and contributions to the communities in which they operate. Children’s services and brands, despite having to navigate through a difficult 18 months, have been able to firmly established themselves within the EF100.

2021’s EF100 ranking, announced in December 2020, demonstrated the importance of children’s services during the initial pandemic lockdown, and the successes of industry professionals adapting in unprecedented, changing circumstances. Currently occupying 14 places across the top 100 league table, the children’s sector had one of its most successful years on the EF100 list since its launch 5 years ago. With an eclectic mix of sectors including music, dance, education and science all being featured, children’s franchises across the UK are getting recognised for their efforts in keeping kids occupied and engaged in learning throughout the pandemic.

One industry that has seen huge success in particular is kids’ teaching and tutoring. Kidslingo Ltd is one such company to be recognised by the EF100 for their efforts. And as a newcomer on the EF100 list last year (placing at 94), they showed how vital maintaining positive learning experiences, albeit virtually, were for the benefit of children’s mental health and development. Tutor Doctor, meanwhile, continued their strong form in the 2021 ranking. Currently placed 15th, they are the only children’s franchise to have finished in the top 20 every year since the EF100 began.

Frank Milner, the President of Tutor Doctor said, “The children’s sector is one that has been heavily relied upon throughout the pandemic, with tutors and franchise staff alike tasked with the duty of keeping kids stimulated, active and healthy in such a restrictive period. We’re incredibly proud to have finished in the top 20 every year since the EF100 began – it validates our ongoing commitment to maximising the academic potential of kids all over the UK. It’s also brilliant to see more kids’ franchises in such a range of industries getting the recognition they deserve. To see the wider community of kids’ franchises handle the pandemic in such inspiring ways speaks volumes about our values and why we are in these jobs.

“Moving forward, it will be brilliant to see how children’s franchising has innovated to become more streamlined. Although it’s been a difficult year for businesses all over the country, I feel like there are so many positives to take away as well, and things have been put in place that will make services more accessible to far more children. I look forward to seeing how our sector has fared when the latest EF100 rankings come out at the end of this year.”

The EF100 showcases franchises who have continued to provide exemplary services, even during unpredictable, difficult times. Children’s brands have been excellent examples of how to adapt and handle situations such as the pandemic as now, more than ever, kids around the UK are utilising and reaping the benefits from the wealth of learning support and fun activities.
