Even though the news is filled with market uncertainty stories, some franchisors are seemingly having no problems growing their businesses
Given the government has talked about stockpiling food in the case of a no-deal Brexit and the sterling still hasn’t recovered to its pre-referendum levels, it’s hardly a secret UK businesses are living through the most uncertain economic times since the 2008 financial crisis. Yet despite the bleakness, some franchises are defying the odds by actively expanding their networks.
For instance, straight off the heels from bagging the coveted Franchisor of the Year Award at the bfa HSBC Franchise Awards 2018, Driver Hire, the transport and logistics franchisor, has shifted its growth into a whole new gear by adding four new Midlands franchisees into its fold this August
Moreover, the economy certainly isn’t preventing franchise milestones given Anytime Fitness, the gym franchise, from growing its network too. The company founded by Chuck Runyon has just announced the launch of its 150th UK gym. In fact, having opened its first British club in 2010, this franchise’s impressive growth has been paying credence to the model’s success for nearly a decade.
But you don’t have to hang around protein-muncher and dumbbell curlers to be a successful franchise. As a case in point, Bright & Beautiful, the domestic housekeeping service, knows a thing or two about smashing records. Back in July the company reached £1m turnover following the introduction of five new franchisees in a bid to double staff to 1,000 employees by 2021.
Elsewhere, Wrapchic, the fast food restaurant, has pledged to launch at least 20 new stores across the country as part of a rapid franchisee expansion plan. The first of which is opened in August in Edinburgh. Indeed, the hungry franchise envisions up to 30 franchisees to have joined the network by 2019.
Forward thinking is also at the forefront of The Travel Franchise, the travel agency, which introduced a whopping 60 franchisees in August and brought its H1 2018 total to nearly double the franchisees welcomed in H1 2017. With the 1,000 mark in sight for 2020, The Travel Franchise sees no limits
It seems wavering sterling and chilling statistics aren’t enough to keep Blighty’s franchises up at night.
