Franchise Puddle Ducks raise over £300K for local charities in Pyjama Week

It’s important for businesses to give back when they can. And what better way to improve the well-being of the community than to raise money for local causes? Award winning UK baby and child swimming school franchise, Puddle Ducks, have raised over £300,000 for local charities during their Pyjama Week fundraisers over the last six years.

Founded in 2002, the Puddle Ducks UK franchise network offers swimming lessons to children from birth up to 10-years-old, employing a team of highly trained instructors to nurture every child’s potential and also offers pre and post-natal classes to expectant mothers. Every year, Puddle Ducks holds an event called Pyjama Week, held three times a year, where children and parents turn up for lessons in their pyjamas to swim and raise money for their chosen local charities. Charities that have benefited from PJ Week fundraising include local hospices, search and rescue operations and charities that support families of children and babies with life-limiting conditions.

“We are absolutely delighted that through our network of Puddle Ducks classes we have been able to raise so much sponsorship money for local causes that are close to the hearts of our families,” Jo Stone, Managing Director of Puddle Ducks said. “Raising a total of £302,680 is just amazing.”

Swimming in clothes can also prepare children for a possible worst-case scenario drowning incident. This gives young ones the opportunity to understand how it feels like to swim in clothes and also learn some life-saving techniques, such as paddling to the surface.

“Wearing pyjamas during swimming lessons is also about more than just having fun,” Jo said. “Most accidents will happen while your child is fully clothed, so Pyjama Week gives our network of classes a great opportunity to teach children what this will feel like. It will help them realise that they will feel heavier but they will still be able to do the important life-saving manoeuvres like kicking to the surface and reaching for the side.”

Puddle Ducks UK teaches over 21,000 children across the UK to swim every week and has been recognised for its outstanding work, received several awards throughout the years. They have been awarded 5* Franchisee Satisfaction for the 7th year running and also won the Best Overall Marketing Campaign in the Franchise Marketing Awards held on October 2019.

Lending an extra helping hand to the community is an extremely beneficial and rewarding experience. Collectively raising money not only helps bring in more funds but also embodies a sense of joy and community spirit when people from all walks of life get together for a worthy cause.
