My Window Cleaner bursts into franchising with family-focused franchisee

Planning ahead as a business will put you in good stead - and this new franchisor may be in for generations of success with its first franchisee

My Window Cleaner bursts into franchising with family-focused franchisee

Making the transition from business to franchisor requires an exemplary inaugural franchisee. So in spreading its franchising wings for the first time, one window cleaning service has looked into the future by taking on a family-run franchisee.

Grabbing the reins of My Window Cleaner Canterbury married couple Alan and Charlotte Jarvis opened the business in August. After clocking up 30 years in retail, Alan Jarvis had self-ownership and his three young children in mind when signing up with My Window Cleaner. Indeed, the couple see the efficiency and robustness of franchising as a gateway to a family business as they look to pass down the baton.

Following several days training with My Window Cleaner’s three directors and shadowing the company’s top employee, he was sold and convinced it was the right choice to make.

Speaking about the new direction, Jarvis said: “I’d always wanted to have my own business and always fancied working outdoors. I had to make a decision on whether to franchise or go out on my own but after meeting with My Window Cleaner’s directors there was only one choice. I’ve got three young kids so it was important to find the right opportunity for me and my family.”

Commenting on the milestone, Ian Bradley, franchise director at My Window Cleaner, added: “This is a wonderful milestone for the company and we couldn’t have asked for anyone better to start our franchise journey with. Alan and Charlotte share our ethos of passion and pride in their work and have customer service in their blood.

“The response since we franchised the business has been very strong and we’re looking forward to helping more people go into business for themselves, backed by proven systems and experienced support.”

Future generations taking over the family business can mean a long-lasting franchisee – looking to the future is the name of the game.”
