Stagecoach Performing Arts has kicked off a brand-new campaign for every one of their worldwide students, to help them feel motivated and engaged during the ongoing COVID-19 lockdown. The new programme, called ‘stagecoachathome’, gives students the opportunity to stream virtual lessons into their living rooms, meaning they can carry on with their performing arts education alongside their standard home-school lessons.

After the first case of coronavirus outside of China was confirmed, the Stagecoach support team jumped into action, planning for the likelihood of the virus reaching UK shores. They put together a plan to help their franchisees retain students if lessons had to be postponed. Stagecoach has always been a market leader when it comes to prioritising the health and wellbeing of their students, teachers and franchisees, so initialising these virtual sessions meets that ongoing commitment.

Every Monday, the session will focus on singing, whilst on a Wednesday the videos will be on dance and activities suitable for Early Stages students. On a Friday, the spotlight will move to acting. These are to be hosted online and sent to parents over the coming weeks, so students can follow the 10-minute videos at home whilst face-to-face activity is on hold.

“This is a very uncertain time for us all so our
number one priority is to ensure our franchise network and the students who
learn with us feel reassured and supported,”
explained Andy Knights, COO at Stagecoach Performing Arts. “With all UK families now on lockdown, it’s
imperative that they continue with as much structure as possible – including regular
Stagecoach sessions! Franchisees can now share a series of short videos, hosted
by our teachers, with their students. We feel as though this could be a real
lifeline for parents now managing the unfamiliarity of the current situation.”

The Stagecoach team are also encouraging their global network of over 50,000 students to share any videos they create following their virtual sessions using the hashtag #stagecoachathome. This means that students can still share in the fun interactions they would normally experience in class.

Since launching the programme, hundreds of students have shared messages and videos with their fellow students. The network of teachers consistently encourage their students to continue with their weekly exercises, whilst franchisees are looking forward to greeting both students and teachers at classes again when restrictions are lifted. Meanwhile, the show must go on and everyone is doing a fantastic job of keeping their spirits up.
