Mark Wahlberg invests in F45

The Daddy’s Home actor has become a minority stakeholder in the business as it angles to intensify its global expansion

Celebrities are getting serious about their gains, both in the gym and in their business portfolio. Hot off the heels of Chris Hemsworth announcing his training app Centr, Mark Wahlberg is now solidifying his stake in the fitness industry by investing in F45, the boutique gym franchise. 

Since Rob Deutsch launched the company back in 2013, it has grown to having over 1,500 gyms and more than six million members across the globe. The Boogie Nights superstar’s investment makes him a minority stakeholder and F45 will use the money to fuel its global expansion, taking a special interest in the US.

However, the cash injection from the Pain & Gain actor shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone. Not only has he made no secret of his fitness interest and has previously launched his own supplement brand Performance Inspired but he’s also made several shoutouts on his Instagram account about F45, referring to it as “the future of fitness” in a January post

Commenting on the investment, Wahlberg said: “The founders of F45 Training have done an incredible job building a global brand and with this partnership we hope to continue disrupting the fitness industry.”

He added: “The strength of F45 is that people of all fitness levels will find motivation and support in an F45 studio. We look forward to inspiring people all over the world to pursue their health and fitness goals by introducing them to F45.”

And Deutsch was seemingly as excited about the deal. “This is a monumental transaction for F45 Training,” he stated. “When we started the company, we knew we had something special and had bold plans to create a global fitness movement. The immense interest we were able to generate through this process proved the strength of the F45 platform and we are excited to embark on this partnership with Mark Wahlberg and his team of investors. Marky Mark isn’t the brand’s only celebrity fan. Sam Smith,  Tinsley Mortimer, Nicole Richie and Wolverine himself – Hugh Jackman – reportedly like the chain too. With A-list stars like these behind it, we can expect that the rise of F45 will continue for a long time.
