Fledgling franchise off to a flyer

PGH Beegone unveils first business partner in Suffolk.

Surrey-based PGH Beegone has hit the ground running by recruiting its first business partner within six weeks of launching as a franchise. This honour belongs to Cambridgeshire-resident David Hasler who becomes the company’s inaugural franchisee, after unveiling his business in the Suffolk town of Bury St Edmunds.

PGH Beegone is a unique franchise that incorporates two established brands into one business: PGH Pest Prevention and Beegone Live Bee Removal. Both businesses were formed in 2008 by Peter Higgs, as part of the Prince’s Trust Enterprise programme. Since then they have grown considerably across London and the South East, with Peter deciding last year that the best way to expand nationally was to become a franchise.

With its headquarters near Guildford, PGH Beegone combines pest control and live bee removal. Peter, who is managing director of the umbrella company PGH Beegone, admitted: “I’m elated that people are seeing the value in our proposition. We have so much untapped industry potential and I can’t wait to get David fully established in his market. He is a valued franchisee who is keen to serve his community and we hope it won’t be long before he is earning at capacity.”

Beegone Live Bee Removal is a pioneering business which removes honeybee colonies and then relocates them, without the use of insecticides. Peter explains: “Bee preservation is currently a hot topic in the media and this is a perfect franchise opportunity for someone who feels very strongly about the environment. Beegone Live Bee Removal saves honeybees and re-homes them and has generated a vast amount of interest from people of all walks of life.”

David, the company’s first franchisee, who was formerly employed by the Environment Agency, said: “I’m so excited to start running my business. The team at PGH Beegone have been extremely professional and supportive. They made me feel comfortable straight away and I know this is a fantastic opportunity.

“Before I joined, owner Peter arranged for me to shadow him at two live bee removal surveys. I also attended an actual live bee removal job which happened in my area, for which Peter gave me a discount on my franchise fees.

PGH Beegone‘s support centre handle all my leads and I have quickly learned that professionalism and speed is the key to securing a customer contract. My first job running PGH Beegone Bury St Edmunds was concerning rodents. It involved rodent proofing – to prevent rodents from coming back – as well as making loft insulation safe. If left contaminated, this can become a health hazard.”

About PGH Pest Prevention

The company’s mission is to identify, control and exclude pests from homes and commercial properties. They tackle a wide range of pests that include rodents, insects, large animals and birds and are passionate about conserving the environment, with customer service at the heart of everything they do. They employ a holistic approach, dealing with and resolving problems by providing preventative work for a long-term solution and are renowned for being able to solve difficult pest issues.

About Beegone Live Bee Removal

Their UK customers range from private clients to blue chip companies and many international and local pest control firms also sub-contract their services. Their expert treatment  involves the safe extraction of honeybees and combs from chimneys, walls, roofs and trees – all without the need to use harmful chemicals. They exclude live bees safely before re-locating them to another site. They will also ‘bee-proof’ the affected property to prevent them returning.
