Caprinos confirms go ahead for major UK expansion

Rapidly expanding franchised pizza brand sees further market upside for its high-quality, innovative and affordable customer proposition

Caprinos Pizza, one of the UK’s fastest-growing franchised pizza brands with 100 locations across the country, has confirmed plans to open 20 stores in the UK this year as part of a broader initiative to double in size to 200+ locations by 2030.

The company was founded in 2014 by Khalil Rehman and Gul Nawaz. Leveraging their management experience in hospitality, the pair spotted a gap in the market for a community-focused pizza brand that champions high-quality ingredients and innovative flavour combinations served at affordable prices.

After launching its first franchised locations in 2015, Caprinos has subsequently scaled to operate more than 100 franchised restaurant sites in the UK – 95 of which have opened within the last five years. More than 7.5 million customers are now served annually.

Building on its existing footprint, Caprinos has already signed franchise agreements with new and existing franchisees to open at least 20 locations this year. This will include new restaurants in Kettering and Cambridge. Caprinos’ expansion plans are part of the Group’s broader strategy to scale the brand to more than 200 locations by 2030, while cementing Caprinos as a household name. In addition to growth in the UK, Caprinos will also explore potential master franchisee opportunities in international markets, from the USA to India, over the medium-term.

To support its growth in the UK, Caprinos has invested significantly in national marketing campaigns – including kit sponsorships with Oxford United Football Club and Northamptonshire Cricket Club – and new product development and menu innovation. Reflecting the in-store operational experience of its co-founders, Caprinos is also investing in new technology to enhance store operations and the online customer journey.

Gul Nawaz and Khalil Rehman said:“The UK takeaway pizza market needs a shake-up. For too long, customers have been uninspired and overcharged by the same brands. We want to change that by scaling our unique customer proposition that champions high quality, unique and innovative flavour combinations served at affordable prices.

“In our short history, we’re proud to have grown to more than 100 UK locations, and today serve more than 7.5 million customers each year. Building on this progress, we believe Caprinos can grow to at least 200 locations over the next five years. This will create hundreds of new jobs, unlock sustainable growth opportunities for our franchisees and bring Caprinos’ delicious and affordable pizzas to the masses.”

Worth noting is that in 2024, Caprinos was named as the only pizza franchisee in HSBC’s Elite Franchise list, which ranks the UK’s top 100 franchise businesses. In 2025, it was named Best Pizza Restaurant of the Year by The British QSR Awards.
