Celebrating the best in British franchising

The Elite Franchise Top 100 (EF100), our annual report and ranking that showcases the best there is in British franchising, will open to applicants on Tuesday 1st September. In association with HSBC, this is the fourth year of the nationwide poll.

The EF100 ranks the best performing brands, taking into account their size, growth, ambitions and contributions made to franchisees and their community. Entrants are also judged on innovative measures they’ve initiated to insulate their network of franchisees, along with ambitions and prospective growth targets in the next financial year.

UK head of franchising at HSBC, Andrew Brattesani, is one of the five franchising specialists judging this year’s applications. He is looking for franchisors that can demonstrate support for their network and resilience during what has been an unquestionably challenging year.

“The franchising industry as a whole has proactively responded to the closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, so it’s essential that brands illustrate how they’ve pivoted and adapted their services. The calibre of the entrants in previous years has been phenomenal – brands will really have to up the ante to secure their place in this year’s ranking.

“The UK franchising industry continues to drive significant financial growth across the nation, so accolades like this are a valuable asset. I’m looking forward to recognising the brands that actively contribute to our economy and set the standard for those thinking of joining the franchise industry. Good luck to all the applicants.”

In the latest bfa NatWest survey, it was reported that franchising contributed over £17billion to the UK economy and employs 710,000 people. The EF100 was established in 2017 to recognise the franchisors that operate their systems in an ethical and innovative manner. Along with regulatory bodies like the British Franchise Association, the EF100 sets a precedent for other emerging franchisors within the industry and maintains credibility across the industry.

Imogen Clarke, Franchise Development Manager for in-home care franchise, Home Instead Senior Care, says the ranking is an invaluable tool when it comes to setting standards and goals within their franchise network.

“The Elite Franchise Top 100 was the first of its kind, an innovative idea bringing together and celebrating the leading UK franchises. The list is the one to watch and we are proud to have held the No.1 position twice. EF100 provides a fantastic guide for anyone looking to buy a franchise, as well as being a real achievement for both the franchise companies and their owners.”

Entries for the EF100 close on Thursday 1st October and finalists will be announced on Friday 4th December. All of the brands successfully polled will be invited to celebrate at our glittering awards evening on Thursday 11th February 2021.
