Franchising is an incredibly lucrative business. But often times, many people struggle to come up with the initial investment to kickstart their own. Alana Spencer, owner of the successful cake brand, Ridiculously Rich, is now offering 10 lucky hopefuls a free franchise and the chance to run their own business.
Alana Spencer, winner of 2016’s the Apprentice, kickstarting her cake business, Ridiculously Rich, after securing a £250,000 investment for Lord Sugar. Her passion for sweet treats grew and she later launched her own Ambassador and “Cakpreneur” schemes in 2017, building a dedicated team of business owners with almost 50 franchisees across the UK selling handmade cakes and chocolates all over the country.
Now, Alana wants to give back – she is offering 10 hopefuls the chance to win a free business worth over £1200, helping those who may not have the financial means to make an initial investment towards a franchise.
“I have always been an advocate of small businesses and love seeing people start something of their own, Alana said. “I am hoping that by offering 10 free businesses, it will give those that might not have the upfront investment, a chance to join us and do something they are passionate about.”
Alana is looking for people who are passionate and driven to succeed in their business, proving why they should be picked amongst a large pool of cake-loving applicants.
“All we really want is to see that passion from someone and that they have thought about how they would make their business a success,” she said. “The application is sent via email and if we are able to take the application forward, we arrange a phone call to chat through their application further. As we only have 10 free businesses to give away, the more information the applicants can give us the better.”
Alana hopes her free franchise scheme will give lucky winners a chance to fulfil their lifelong dream of starting a business, and also expand her bases across the UK even further.
“Hopefully it will not only help those that have always wanted a business fulfil their dream, and build something successful for themselves, but also help Ridiculously Rich be at even more food events across the UK,” Alana added.
Franchisees are provided with a complete ambassador start up pack, training and materials along with constant help and support along the way to ensure they start on the right foot and get the most out of their business.
Each franchisee gets their own log in to their online portal, allowing them to keep track of sales and a dedicated team of staff to help them along every step of the way.
Ambassadors are also given a list of recommended events in their area to get started, with all cakes delivered freshly from Wales right to their door step.
“We have full online training with videos and loads of materials, each franchise gets their own online log in on the website and a Ridiculously Rich email address for contacting customers,” Alana said. “There is also a dedicated Ambassador manager to help with anything they need, big or small! And we are regularly updating our franchises with new products and avenues for their business.”
Investing in Ridiculously Rich will allow franchisees the freedom and flexibility of owning their own business, with many reportedly seeing great success and ended up leaving their full-time jobs to dedicate their time doing what they love.
“We give our franchisees the freedom to grow their business how they would like to, but with as much help and support as they want along the way,” Alana said. “A number of our franchises have now left their employment and run their businesses full time, meaning they have more time with their families and are doing something they love every day!”
