Shropshire-based couple, Lora and Ryan Ordidge, have begun sowing the seeds of success with the purchase of their new lawn care franchise, GreenThumb. Swapping the corporate life for an outdoor adventure, they’ll be aiming to deliver a bespoke localised high-quality lawn care service and hard surface treatments operation to over 4,200 homes and businesses across Shropshire and Wolverhampton.

The Ordidge’s have taken over the reins of the franchise from Jacqui and Ian Balmforth, who previously ran the Shropshire location for 23 years and Wolverhampton for 10.

They are being supported by a team of seven lawn operatives and two administrative staff, whose main focus is to provide excellent customer service and consistently high-quality lawn care and hard-surface treatments to every customer across their two territories.

GreenThumb can trace its origins back 35 years, when it was the very first lawn care company to operate in the UK. It has grown substantially in the interim and now boasts over 220 branches across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Not only is it now the largest it’s also the most recommended, with operatives carrying out in excess of 2.5 million lawn treatments annually.

Ryan, meanwhile, will be operating GreenThumb Shropshire and Wolverhampton on a day-to-day basis, focusing on ensuring the business continues to deliver optimum customer service whilst aiming to further grow the business and expand its customer base.

As Ryan put it: “After more than a decade of working for large organisations, I was keen to run my own business in an industry I love and achieve the same level of success again. When Lora and I learnt that GreenThumb Shropshire and Wolverhampton were for sale, it was an easy decision to make.”

“We are now committed to building a business where we can continue to grow across Shropshire and the West Midlands and maybe one day our son will come and work for the family business,” added Ryan.
