Sweat The Big Stuff: How Anytime Fitness UK’s podcast is powering franchise success

When you think of a global fitness brand, your mind might jump to gyms, workouts, and personal training. But behind the scenes of every successful franchise lies something less obvious, but just as vital: the sharing of knowledge, stories, and lessons learned

Sweat The Big Stuff

That’s the driving force behind Sweat the Big Stuff: The Franchise Edition, the official podcast from Anytime Fitness UK. More than a marketing tool, it’s become a platform where franchisees, business leaders, and industry experts lift the lid on what it really takes to run a thriving fitness business in today’s ever-changing market.

Why we launched a franchise podcast

Franchising has always been about the power of a proven model, but no two franchise journeys are identical. At Anytime Fitness, our network of franchisees spans different regions, backgrounds, and business experiences. We wanted a way to connect those voices – not just within our brand, but with the wider franchising community.

Sweat the Big Stuff: The Franchise Edition was born out of that mission: to offer candid conversations, practical advice, and real-life success stories for both aspiring and experienced business owners. As our podcast host and Senior Property and Development Manager, Kieran Smith puts it, “This is about lifting each other up. Speaking about the successes and challenges of running a business and how to connect and learn from each other.”

Inside the episodes

Each episode features a mix of franchisees, operational leaders, and external specialists. High-performing franchise owners who reveal how they’ve adapted to local markets – from bustling city centres to rural communities and our dedicated supplier partners talk about how they work with Anytime Fitness to support a successful and thriving business.

Anytime Fitness currently has a number of episodes live and are in progress of filming many more this year with some exceptional guests lined up. The episode guide so far includes…

Episode 1 – Thomas Barnes from NatWest

Episode 2 – Aary Walia, multi-unit Anytime Fitness Franchisee

Episode 3 – Nasim Khan, multi-unit Anytime Fitness Franchisee

Episode 4 – Cam Bridger from Love Recruitment

Lessons beyond fitness

While the podcast is rooted in the fitness industry, its lessons are universal. Listeners hear strategies for building strong teams, delivering exceptional customer service, and balancing long-term growth with day-to-day challenges.

A recent episode on community engagement is a perfect example: a franchisee in Gerrards Cross spoke about the power of just picking up the phone and speaking with prospects after engaging with them in the local community. The result? A stronger brand presence, new member leads, and meaningful local impact.

Anytime Fitness Gerrards Cross franchisee, Nasim Khan, will be joining Elite Franchise Live at Ideas Fest on the 10th September in Tring, Hertfordshire on a panel talk with The BFA and other franchise brands.

Building a culture of sharing

Anytime Fitness has over 5,200 clubs worldwide, but culture is built one conversation at a time. Sweat the Big Stuff: The Franchise Edition helps knit together the UK network, creating a sense of connection whether you’re running your first club or your fifth.

And it’s not just for those in the Anytime Fitness network. Aspiring franchise owners from outside the fitness space have tuned in to understand the realities of running a local business under a global brand.

Looking ahead

As we head into the next episodes, expect conversations from our new owners from Anytime Fitness Australia, the future of recovery and wellness spaces in fitness clubs and much more.

Our aim is simple: keep the content fresh, the conversations honest, and the takeaways actionable and relevant across all franchise sectors.

Where to listen

Sweat the Big Stuff: The Franchise Edition is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and YouTube. Whether you’re a current franchisee, a prospective investor, or simply curious about the business of fitness, you’ll find stories, strategies, and inspiration to help you tackle your own “big stuff.”
