Countrywide Grounds Maintenance was established in Manchester in 1984 and, over its 30-year history, has built a reputation for high quality service within the grounds maintenance industry providing comprehensive grounds maintenance solutions, which include grass cutting, weed killing, tree works, landscaping, hedge cutting, gritting, artificial grass and much, much more.

Like many franchise brands, Countrywide didn’t start as a franchise, but instead grew as a successful independent outfit. With the Countrywide business model proving successful, providing a secure yet growing income, the first local franchise owner was recruited in 1986. Since then, the network has gone from strength to strength, growing from 1 franchisee to 46 covering the whole of the UK.

Countrywide Grounds Maintenance supports local charities, providing materials for community improvement projects, as well as investing in community infrastructure. We are more than happy to invest our time through attending community group meetings and influencing change. Our franchisees have helped find ways to address issues such as fly-tipping, graffiti, anti-social behaviour and have gone as far as finding ways to repurpose disused open space areas.

Support

In a recent survey, over 75% of franchisees agreed that the support of fellow franchisees was strong and that they regularly communicate and share best practice. It’s these regular meetings and consistent communication which help to build this unified community atmosphere.

Innovation

Countrywide Grounds Maintenance has developed strategic relationships with "Green" Equipment manufacturers and suppliers. There is support and collaboration on biodiversity with organisations like the Bumblebee Conservation Trust and an alignment with a charitable organisation providing social therapy through horticulture and Gardening called THRIVE. Our franchisees are using all-electric powered machinery where possible and electric lawnmowers as a substitute for petrol-powered mowers.

Future

Being a full network, Countrywide Grounds Maintenance's ambition is to continue to concentrate on improving franchise support procedures which, in turn, will enable our franchisees to develop their businesses both financially and in infrastructure. This keeps the network fully engaged and fosters a culture of renewal and legacy.
