Innovative ways to save energy in the workplace

Energy costs usually only go in one direction for people, therefore, finding more creative and innovative solutions to decrease energy prices can become a priority.  The environmental impact that people and business make is becoming more of a focus from most countries as they appreciate the impact this has on climate change. Some governments are now even beginning to legislate more aggressively around this topic.  Here are some ideas and suggestions on how to save on energy.

Power systems

Not many people are aware of the innovative power vault systems option where we see energy being stored and used at a later time.  If people have solar panels then the energy that is taken from this can either be used instantly or by using one of these power vault systems, it can be stored and used at a later time.  This is energy technology at its greatest and allows the full use of the energy consumption and can saves business a lot of money.  To understand more about this, learn more here.

Energy consumption monitors

Depending on the size of the business, it could be a great way to enquire about an energy consumption monitor which will give you immediate visibility of the energy that is being consumed and where abouts. For example, this could give you opportunities to review specific “hot spots” and look to see what more can be done. It also helps in terms of monitoring your billing and envisaged outgoing costs in real live time and make immediate interventions if required.

Movement sensors

Unfortunately, not all employees are disciplined enough to be turning off lights when they are not in a room and this is a massive outgoing cost for companies.  A creative way that overcomes this is to insert movement sensors in the workplace that will turn on and off lights when there are people within it.  This then alleviates the need to rely on the discipline of people to do this.  These can be placed in factories, offices and even toilets.

In addition to this, they can be set into “zones”.  For example, in an office, they would, therefore, not switch off the lights completely in the office but do this only in a specific zone where there are no people or movement.

Centrally controlled heating

If in an office place, a source of contention could always be the heating levels.  You will find that if people have the ability to change this by moving a dial in the office then they would do so regularly.  One way to counteract this would be to ensure that the heating is centrally controlled and is set to the optimum temperature all the time.  This will then ensure a constant heat and air in the workplace and also allow for effective billing predictions.

Summary

With energy consumption high on the agenda for companies, these innovative solutions are just some of the ways that people can reduce their overall energy costs and impact on the environment.
