We all know that video is a fantastic marketing tool, however most of us don’t like the idea of being on camera. Increasingly, being ‘camera shy’ is becoming a barrier to maximising the reach and marketing opportunities social media has to offer. The growth of TikTok is testament to the power of video. TikTok is not just a tool for people to show off their dancing abilities, it is also a powerful marketing tool for companies large and small. The ability to make video using other editing platforms and upload to TikTok means there are opportunities to make many types of videos.
If it is possible to say something good about The Global Pandemic, it has made us less camera shy. Zoom and Webex calls are now commonplace and most of us are more comfortable having our webcams on. Perhaps now is the time for all of us to become less camera shy with online videos. Franchisors and Franchisees have a fantastic opportunity to build corporate and personal brands with video.
One could argue that there has never been a better time to produce videos and get yourself in front of a huge audience of potential customers. My advice for the camera shy is to think of a video just like a Zoom call. Social media videos are now more and more disposable and very easy to make, especially if it’s just talking to camera, so appearing in a video is not such a big deal in terms of a time commitment.
So how about making 2022 the year where you embrace the power of video and make a start on your influencer journey. Remember, we are on camera pretty much all the time anyway. From webcams, security camera to video doorbells. Perhaps now is the time to get the camera to start working for you.
