There’s never a perfect time to buy a franchise – Make now your time to thrive

If you're waiting for the ‘right’ time to buy a franchise, here's the truth: it doesn't exist

perfect time to buy a franchise

Buying a franchise is a large, ongoing decision – not a short-term commitment.  Throughout the process, from initial conversations to signing agreements, you’ll feel doubt.  Things will feel off.

But if you’re always waiting for the perfect moment to take the leap, then, you may just never do it.

Choose a franchise that will last

Some industries rise and fall with the market.  That’s why you should pick your sector accordingly.  For example, whilst a slightly ‘un-sexy’ sector, I picked care because:

  • The UK’s ageing population means consistent, growing demand.
  • Care is recession-resilient — people need support regardless of economic trends.
  • Buying into care means investing in a sector with long-term relevance.

So, think about how your franchise would hold up, now just now, but in the future.  Is the marketing dwindling, or will the demand grow?  Remember: the shiniest businesses aren’t always the most profitable.

You’ll never be 100% sure — and that’s OK

Fear and hesitation are normal.  I’ve been there.  To be frank, I rarely buy a shirt without snapping a picture of it and sending it to my wife first!  When it comes to a decision as transformative as investing in a new business, it’s normal to feel doubt.

But remember: clarity comes from action, not overthinking.

  • Use the 80/20 rule: if you’re 80% sure and have done the groundwork, it’s time to move.
  • Get advice from those you trust to give it.  Whether that’s your spouse or someone with a level-head.  Maybe they’ve been in your shoes.  That’s why, at Walfinch, I encourage our prospective franchisees to speak to people within the network – because nobody knows a franchise better than the people in it!

You don’t find time — you make it

There are 1,000 reasons not to do it right now: kids, savings, work, fear.  But thriving isn’t about waiting – it’s about doing.

The most successful people make time for what matters.  You either build your dream, or someone else hires you to build theirs.  When speaking to current Walfinch franchisees, many say they wish they’d taken the leap earlier.  Why can’t now be your time to Thrive?

You don’t need perfect conditions.  You need courage, commitment, and a ‘just do it’ attitude.  And that’s what separates those who dream from those who thrive.
