Visiting Angels UK CEO Dan Archer is gaining global attention after his second TEDx talk, Technology Should Make Us More Human, surpassed 200,000 views on the TEDx Talks YouTube channel.
The talk was also ranked the fourth most-watched TEDx talk published globally in May 2026, placing Dan’s message about human connection, emotional intelligence and the future of care firmly in the international spotlight.
In Technology Should Make Us More Human, Dan explores the role of artificial intelligence in care at a time when ageing populations, workforce shortages and rising demand are placing increasing pressure on health and social care systems. Rather than positioning technology as a replacement for human care, Dan argues that innovation should be used to strengthen emotional connection and support better relationships between carers and clients.
Drawing on his experience leading one of the UK’s fastest-growing home care franchises, Dan introduces the concept of Augmented Emotional Intelligence (AEI), using technology to help people become more human, not less.
“If the key to success in life is high emotional intelligence, and the key to happiness is human relationships and connections, surely we should be using technology to increase human contact, not to replace it,” said Dan.
The milestone follows Dan’s first TEDx appearance at the end of 2023, when he delivered Returning a Grandmother’s Love, a talk exploring the importance of creating a carer-centric culture in social care. That talk has since gained more than 100,000 views on YouTube, bringing Dan’s total TEDx audience to more than 300,000 views across both talks.
For Visiting Angels, the achievement reflects the brand’s growing influence within both the franchise and social care sectors. Across its network of more than 80 franchisees, Visiting Angels promotes a model that prioritises carer wellbeing, continuity of care and relationship-led support.
“To see audiences engage so strongly with both of my TEDx talks has been genuinely humbling,” said Dan. “The response reinforces our belief that the future belongs to organisations that use innovation to help people become more human, not less.”
