CFA to host insights webinar for UK franchisors

The webinar titled:Expand Your Franchise Brand into Canada from the UK’ is set for Thursday, April 23rd, 2026 at 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM EST/ 2:00 – 3:00PM BST.

The one-hour session is tailored specifically for UK franchisors and franchise executives seeking to understand the opportunities and complexities of operating in Canada. Participants will gain practical guidance on legal frameworks, financial planning, and market entry strategies critical to successful expansion.

It will feature a panel of industry experts, including:

  • A franchise lawyer covering key legal requirements and regulatory considerations for franchisors entering Canada
  • A franchise consultant discussing market entry strategies, localization, and building strong franchise partnerships
  • An accounting and tax expert addressing cross-border financial planning and tax implications for franchise systems
  • A franchisor discussing firsthand experience with international expansion, including adapting operations, supporting franchisees, and entering the Canadian market

Whether Canada is part of an immediate expansion plan or a longer-term strategic goal, this webinar will provide valuable insights to help franchisors navigate the Canadian franchising landscape effectively. Canada continues to be one of the most attractive international markets for franchise growth.

Expanding into the Canadian market will make sense for some UK franchisors – not least due to its size. Meanwhile, it’s a journey that has already been undertaken by Elite Franchise itself, which expanded into the country in May 2024 when it launched Elite Franchise Canada. Taking a cue from its UK counterpart it subsequently set-up the Canadian version of the Elite Franchise 100 (EF100) on August 1, 2024. This definitive league table, established in 2017 in the UK, celebrates the best-in-class franchise brands in Canada.

More generally, franchising is now the 12th largest industry in Canada, according to The International Trade Administration. The sector meanwhile ranks fifth in the world (2025) in terms of attractiveness, according to the Rosenberg International Franchise Center – a research and educational hub located within the Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire.

And franchised businesses contribute over $133 billion per year to the Canadian economy, creating jobs for almost two million Canadians, according to the CFA.

Ontario unsurprisingly dominates, given approximately 65% of all operating franchise units are in the province – reflecting the fact it contains almost 40% of Canada’s population.
