Demand for training and upskilling has never been greater as UK workforce plan and prepare for collective career change.
Adult education provider Pitman Training has never been in greater demand. And there’s a very good reason for this. With the UK’s workforce still reeling from the on-going pandemic, many people have decided the time is ripe for re-skilling.
During the past couple of years many jobs have been lost, with the economy taking a massive hit in a number of sectors. Even those people currently in employment are looking over their shoulders, concerned that they may be the next group of workers to be thrown onto the scrapheap.
So, to counter this, large numbers of people have taken it upon themselves to plan for the future, and prepare for a possible career change. Around three-quarters of UK professionals are intending to search for a new job during the current year, with more than half of these keen to re-skill. Therefore, Pitman Training has been the first port of call for many of these individuals.
Pitman Training is a renowned top-class training provider, enabling students to develop their skillsets and broaden their career prospects. As a consequence of increased demand for their services, Pitman has opened seven new centres during recent months to cater for this upsurge.
These can be found in Bournemouth, Bromley, Edgware, Sheffield, Southend and Stratford, with the latest franchise launching in Enfield, north London just a few weeks ago. Maidstone in Kent is set to become the next new location to be unveiled, bringing the total number of Pitman centres across the UK and Ireland to 80.
As for Enfield, this franchise territory will be run by Neil Khakhria and his brother Dip. Neil said: “The network is expanding quickly, while the courses on offer are both more diverse than ever and in greater numbers too. We offer online learning, as well as provide in-centre services.
“We were delighted to open our Pitman Training centre in Enfield. Pitman has been delivering training since 1837 and is a super-brand on a global scale. Our setup allows us to not only provide a modern-day approach to accredited training, but also offer our students a fun and inspiring state-of-the-art facility.
“We have highly motivated and experienced coaches, and we specialise in delivering CPD*-accredited training for corporate clients. Many of these courses are internationally recognised by professional bodies.”
Another Pitman franchisee, Gareth Jones, launched his first centre six months ago, and will soon add a second location in Kent. He said: “I used to work in the automotive industry before running a chocolate business. But I was forced to change careers due to Brexit and the pandemic. I’m a firm believer that training and education at all stages of life is hugely important.
“Having the ability to help someone transform their career and life was very appealing to me. Since joining Pitman, the support from the team at head office has been excellent. My goals now are to develop Pitman‘s presence around Canterbury and Maidstone.”
For over 180 years, Pitman Training has enjoyed an unrivalled reputation as an elite training provider. Each centre offers over 250 courses, and the managing director of Pitman Training in the UK, Paul Lewis, said: “We’re very proud to be opening so many centres despite these tough economic times.
“During the pandemic, we’ve seen a huge demand for our services with students looking to upskill. We’ve helped over 10,000 people study and complete their courses online, which is a real testament to all the hard work from everyone involved in making these courses a success.
“We’ve also managed to support the NHS by providing medical courses, such as the Medical Admin Diploma. We also have a partnership with Amazon.”
