TRIB3 founder Kevin Yates receives coveted entrepreneurial award at London ceremony

Growing global fitness franchise is honoured in Health & Beauty category.

The founder and chief executive of fitness kings TRIB3 has been recognised at this year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards, following a ceremony at Grosvenor House in Mayfair.

Kevin Yates, who created the company in 2016, collected his award in central London after being named the winner of the Health & Beauty category for the North-West, Yorkshire and Humberside region. This particular category covers fitness and wellbeing, and Kevin’s award pays tribute to his company’s remarkable growth during the past six years.

By the end of 2022, TRIB3 will have opened more than 70 stores, which are trading across 10 international territories. Kevin launched TRIB3 in his home city of Sheffield and, in his current role, he manages the executive board and oversees day-to-day operations.

TRIB3, whose global headquarters are in Manchester, is one of the fastest growing fitness boutiques in Europe, offering instructor-led high intensity interval training. Treadmills, resistance and intensity sessions form part of their unique offering, while allowing customers to prepare, sweat and recover at their luxurious studios.

This annual event was organised in partnership with Starling Bank, and pays tribute to the UK’s most inspiring entrepreneurial success stories. This year’s gathering brought together over 1,400 entrepreneurs and colleagues, and was the biggest and most successful in the ceremony’s 10-year history.

A delighted Kevin said: “I feel honoured to have been named in our industry category, along with other inspiring winners. I have always been entrepreneurial at heart and it’s been such a rewarding journey, since opening my first TRIB3 outlet just over six years ago.

“I feel proud that the company has created employment opportunities for many people around the globe, and I have enjoyed helping our franchise partners realise their own business ambitions. And a huge thank-you also to everyone who voted for TRIB3, as well as the team which organised this awards’ ceremony, along with those at Starling Bank.”

Kevin has more than 25 years of experience in the fitness industry. He served for four years in the British Army, before becoming a personal trainer at his local gym. He worked his way into senior roles at Fitness First, Esporta and 1Life, and then decided to develop and build one of the UK’s first boutique fitness brands.

Collectively, the companies which attended this year’s Great British Entrepreneur Awards generated a turnover in excess of £2bn during the past 12 months. These businesses also employ more than 17,000 people and the event founder, Francesca James, said: “This 10th anniversary was our biggest and best yet, as we celebrate Britain’s most ambitious, driven and inspirational entrepreneurs.

“Having been involved with this event for the past decade, I can honestly say it remains a great honour. We’ve learnt so much from hearing all of their unique stories and perspectives.

“The extraordinary circumstances of the last few years have tested the resilience of our business communities. But these business owners didn’t pack it in and walk away. They responded through ingenuity, innovation and the ability to adapt. Ultimately, they thrived.

“These challenges certainly haven’t gone away, and the next few years will present new obstacles to overcome. But one just needs to look around this vast arena to see some of the truly special founders and doers.”
