From Barcelona to the Wirral: Highlights from our first nine months

As I write my third diary entry, I’m struck by how quickly time has flown by since Louise and I took over Signs Express Liverpool & Wirral at the end of 2024

From Barcelona to the Wirral: Highlights from our first nine months

It’s been a whirlwind nine months of growth, investment, and community connection, all while building a team and a business we’re proud of.

Shortly, Louise and I, along with our team will be heading back to Barcelona with HP and Papergraphics to their Centre of Excellence, for another round of training and inspiration on our new HP flatbed printer. It’s an incredible opportunity not only to refine our skills but also to expand the services we can offer both our customers and the wider Signs Express network. We’re already offering a more diverse range of solutions since the printer was installed, but there’s something special about being around the HP centre to help draw inspiration from your surroundings and think outside the box!

Joining our small fleet of vans, we’ve just invested in a Mini which is ready to be branded up and will be out and about on the road for surveys. It’s a great way to strengthen our local presence, a moving advert as much as a practical tool!

Networking and community involvement remain really important to both myself and Louise, so we’re looking forward to the upcoming Wirral Chamber of Commerce breakfast meetings, which give us the chance to widen our connections and collaborate with local businesses.

In December, our team will be taking a day out to volunteer with Age UK Wirral. We’re hoping to roll up our sleeves and help cook a Christmas meal for local pensioners, just a small way to give back to the community that’s welcomed us so warmly over the years.

When it comes to the centre, we’re continuing to transform our space into more of a showroom to create an inspiring environment for our team and customers alike. Papergraphics are kindly supporting us with custom wallpaper that will help showcase just what’s possible when it comes to creative interiors.

At the same time, we’re working hard with customers on sustainability-focused projects, something that’s close to my heart. A major building merchants has recently partnered with us specifically because of our eco-credentials, which is an exciting step forward for both parties.

It’s been a busy few months with a real variety of projects, so I thought I’d round up a few highlights:

  • Working with loyal customer CBRE to redesign their Premier Park security lodge and a refresh of their entrance totem.
  • Creating eye-catching new bold exterior signage for Schar Tec’s new warehouse.
  • Very much a staple for us, we loved creating some striking vehicle graphics for customers Concepts Project Group and Hoist UK.
  • For Liverpool City Region and Merseytravel, we brought their hoarding boards to life and created new signage for the Queensway Tunnel Monument restoration.
  • The Laurel Service Centre had a facelift, with multiple new exterior signs, helping guide their customers with new wayfinding solutions.
  • For Magenta Living, we created colourful interior window manifestations across five floors of their building, offering both wayfinding solutions and creating a refreshed workspace.
  • Last of our highlights was creating and installing the new exterior signage for Hoggins at The Park for their brand-new city centre location.

On top of this, we even had a little fun with a light-hearted AI video for our socials, proving that while we take our work seriously, we don’t take ourselves too seriously.

Looking ahead, the next few months are about continuing to strengthen our offering, proudly showing off our revamped centre, and exploring exciting opportunities for expansion. With the momentum we’ve built, Louise, the team, and I are excited to see what’s next for Signs Express Liverpool & Wirral.
