As communities return to the rhythm of a busy autumn term, the Stagecoach Performing Arts network is buzzing with energy – welcoming new faces, new schools and renewed excitement for what’s ahead. It’s been a summer of transformation, with established schools passing into passionate new hands and a brand-new greenfield launch expanding the network even further.
Here, Lisa Stead, Interim CEO of Stagecoach, discusses the latest arrivals to the Stagecoach family and the inspiring stories behind their journey into leadership.
The last few months have been packed full of growth, excitement and fresh opportunity for us at Stagecoach. Across the country, our network continues to thrive – and I’m delighted to welcome three remarkable new Principals who are already inspiring the next generation of performers.
At Stagecoach Pudsey, Dr Claire Hookham takes the lead with an incredible 35 years of experience in musical theatre and over two decades in education. Her blend of academic excellence and creative energy makes her perfectly placed to nurture confident, well-rounded students. Claire’s passion for inspiring young people shines through in everything she does, and I’m thrilled to see her bring that enthusiasm to our network.
Over in Bromsgrove & Droitwich, Keely Till is fulfilling a lifelong dream by stepping into ownership of her own school. From discovering her love of the performing arts at seven years old to earning a BA (Hons) in Dance, Keely’s journey has been defined by dedication and heart. With 15 years of Stagecoach teaching experience and as a mum of three, she brings warmth, creativity and a deep understanding of how performance can build confidence and joy in every child.
And in Southport, a brand-new greenfield school has launched under Laura Feenan’s leadership. A highly qualified and dynamic coach, Laura trained at the Central School of Speech and Drama – later becoming an accredited Vocal Balance coach. Her impressive career has taken her from producing cabarets in London and Manchester to working with Disney Theatrical Productions on The Lion King UK tour, and teaching at Mountview and Pendleton.
For Laura, this new chapter with Stagecoach is particularly special – she began her journey as a child at Stagecoach Bury. “Stagecoach’s triple-threat training is what makes it special,” said Laura. “Every week, students throw themselves into singing, dancing and acting – and the extra opportunities, like performing with Disney or appearing in big theatres, give them memories and skills that stay with them forever.”
Her Stagecoach Southport launch has already been a triumph, with nearly 100 Discovery Day attendees and 55 students signing up for trial classes. “It showed me there’s a real appetite for performing arts in the area,” explained Laura. “I’d love to grow further in the next couple of years – but most of all, I want to create a place where children feel confident, creative and part of something really special.”
As a network, we’re incredibly proud to see this wave of new leadership bringing fresh energy and vision into our schools. Claire, Keely and Laura each embody what makes Stagecoach unique – a deep love for the arts, a passion for education and a commitment to helping every student find their voice.
At head office, our mission is to make sure every Principal feels supported from day one – through training, mentoring and a community that celebrates success together. It’s been inspiring to see these new Principals hit the ground running, and I can’t wait to watch their Stagecoach communities flourish.
