Boom time for East Midlands’ courier business

Local franchise quickly outgrows original premises.

It’s been such a remarkably successful start to life for one Northamptonshire-based courier service that they have had to move to larger premises within one year of starting trading.

The Daventry franchise of World Options only opened for business in September 2022 but, after achieving more than £1m in sales inside 12 months, decided to switch offices to allow for further expansion.

Managing director Jack Fisher increased his office staff to four, before moving to a property at Signal Park which is located just off London Road, south of Daventry town centre.

On moving into the new premises, Mr Fisher said: “As the global economy gets more and more connected, and thanks to the boom in ecommerce, the courier industry is a very vibrant marketplace. It looks set to grow further.

“Based on our expansion so far, we are hoping to grow our operations even further here in Daventry. Potentially, there could be five further jobs over the next three years.”

World Options, which is part of global enterprise MBE Worldwide, is the largest retail group of franchised shipping services’ companies in the UK. The World Options shipping portal allows customers to compare quotes from leading carriers, as well as order deliveries, send shipments and then track these items.

The company’s mission is to provide SME businesses with a service for all shipment types based on availability, speed and price. Founded 20 years ago, World Options became part of Milan-based MBE Worldwide in 2022.

And Jack Fisher added: “For businesses which ship parcels worldwide, the number of options available can often cause confusion. As a result, many companies tend to stick to one courier service, even though that might not be the best option every time.

World Options helps businesses choose the right option for every individual shipment. We provide a human customer service to assist with tracking parcels on their journey. This happens because of agreements that we have with all the major couriers.

“Our bulk-buying power means customers pay the same price that they would if they were booking with couriers directly. This covers parcels, pallets, freight transport, documents or imports, either nationally or internationally.”

About World Options Holdings Ltd: Based in Warwickshire, the company manages three UK brands – Mail Boxes Etc, PACK & SEND and the aforementioned World Options. They provide ecommerce, fulfilment, shipping, virtual office, marketing and print solutions to SMEs and consumers.

Companies within the group maintain and support over 260 franchisees, while generating combined annual revenues of £80m.

World Options Holdings is part of MBE Worldwide which, during 2022, served over one million customers globally. The parent-company (MBE) annually generates over £1bn in gross revenue through its network of 3,150 businesses, across 52 countries.
