Three franchisees who joined the network only last year have already earned their place among the top 10 fastest-growing businesses across the entire franchise – Kelly Parums of Colchester, Harriet Saine based in Edinburgh and Voni Nyamazana of Bicester & Thame.   Several other recent starters also recorded their best-ever month in June, highlighting a strong upward trajectory for new talent within the network.

This success is not just a testament to the strength of the Bright & Beautiful model, but also to the character and mindset of the franchisees themselves.

Mindset makes the difference

What do these standout performers have in common?

“It all comes down to mindset,” the Bright & Beautiful support team explains. “These individuals believe wholeheartedly in the business and have shown relentless dedication to making it work. They’re not waiting for success, they’re out there creating it.”

Managing Director Jo Vorwerg agrees, adding:
“The key to success from the outset is mindset, resilience, hard work  and having sufficient cash in the business to support the growth. Without the right financial foundation, even the most determined franchisee can find their momentum limited.”

In the world of franchising, there’s often a misconception that buying into a brand means buying a business ready to go. But the reality is very different. Franchisees are investing in a proven model,  not a shortcut. Making it work requires commitment, consistency, and no small amount of hard work.

Wearing every hat

In many careers, employees are protected by the defined limits of their role. But for business owners, particularly in the early days, there’s no such safety net. New franchisees must quickly learn to manage a wide range of responsibilities, from operations and HR to marketing, sales, and finance. Support is always available, but ultimately, it’s down to the individual to make it a success.

The three new franchisees who have surged into the top 10 understand this better than most. They’ve taken responsibility, embraced the challenge, and built momentum through effort and resilience.

Blank territories vs resales – different routes, same ambition

Interestingly, these three top performers also reflect the different routes into the Bright & Beautiful network. Two of them – Voni Nyamazana and Harriet Saine launched in blank territories, areas with no existing business or client base, while Kelly Parums acquired a resale.

With the current economic climate, resales have become an increasingly popular option. They offer a head start, often including an established team and client base, which can be appealing for those keen to hit the ground running.

However, the blank territory option brings its own unique advantages. It allows new owners to create a business entirely on their own terms, without inheriting existing systems or ways of working. The two franchisees who took this route have demonstrated just how powerful that freedom can be, building their businesses from the ground up, embedding their own ethos, and developing operations in line with their personal vision.

Voni Nyamazana: “I’m totally focussed on always doing better”

One of the standout franchisees, Voni Nyamazana, shared her perspective on what’s behind her remarkable growth:

“I’m totally focussed on always doing better. I’m constantly reflecting and encouraging myself to maintain my high quality. I really care about the clients and love exceeding their expectations.”

But Voni’s journey hasn’t just been about client satisfaction. Her experience has been raw, emotional, and real and if you are thinking of making the leap into being a business owner it’s good to understand what you’re embarking on, here Voni describes her journey so far:

“When I started my cleaning business, I never could have imagined what it would be like. What it would feel like, the day to day roller coaster.

Of course you had a dream which fuelled you to start, but you soon learn.  For me, when the honeymoon wore off, month 3 and 4, the reality and enormity of what I let myself into sunk in. Did I do the right thing? Do I really want to do this?

You make mistakes you never imagined, stumble over things you didn’t even know existed, and face painful surprises you never saw coming. Some days, it feels like you’re failing more than you’re growing. You realise, you’re in a love/ hate relationship.

You learn that growth hurts. That’s why they call them growing pains. When you decide to run your own business, know that you will become someone new in the process. Every setback shapes your staying power. Every wrong turn teaches you something your comfort zone never could. You begin to realise that business isn’t just about profits and plans – it’s about persistence, patience, and purpose.

You start dreaming the business in your sleep. It lives in your bones. And when everything in you wants to quit, the only thing that keeps you going is that WHY- why you started, who you’re doing it for, and the vision that once lit a fire in your soul.

No, it’s not the bed of roses I imagined. It’s more like a field of thorns but every now and then as I work through the thorns, I stumble into fields of amazing blooms that remind.me that it’s worth it. I feel the growth in my every bone. And with every painful step, every long night, every tear shed in silence, I pray that I’m becoming so much stronger and building my little empire.

So I tell myself not to give up but to hang in there! And to keep the dream right in front of me to keep me focused..”

Voni thrives on the human side of the business and says one of the most rewarding aspects is building relationships and seeing the impact of her team’s work first-hand. She takes great pride in creating an exceptional client experience and in building a culture of care and accountability.

These successes are a powerful reminder that with the right mindset, strong support, and financial preparedness, both routes into franchising can deliver extraordinary results. Whether starting fresh or stepping into an existing business, it’s what you do with the opportunity that counts.
