When franchising is done right, it goes far beyond building a large network and turning over a profit – it centres on strengthening local communities and making a significant social impact.
Dyno-Rod’s latest charity partnership is a prime example of this ethical franchising practice. For a second year running, the plumbing and drainage specialist has partnered with award-winning adventurer Jordan Wylie MBE, with the aim of supporting young people across the country to access life-changing opportunities and develop valuable skills.
The franchisor has once again signed up to be the headline sponsor of Wylie’s next major expedition, having previously supported his intrepid 2025 journey to unexplored peaks in Antarctica and ultimately, the South Pole.
Dyno-Rod will back the former soldier as he prepares to travel from the Dead Sea to the Death Zone on the summit of Mount Everest. Alongside helping to fund the expedition, the franchisor will also support Wylie in recruiting 10 Army Cadets to join him on his epic adventure in 2028, along with providing ample opportunities for franchisees to engage with their local community in new and exciting ways.
The ‘Xtreme Everest’ expedition is all in support of the Army Cadet Charitable Trust UK (ACCT UK), a national youth charity dedicated to improving the life chances of young people, regardless of social or financial barriers.
ACCT UK provide grants, training and development opportunities for cadets, aged 12 to 18, and adult volunteers across the country.
Commenting on the latest partnership, Lee Parry, Head of Franchise Licensing & Strategy at Dyno-Rod, said: “We’re proud to support Jordan and ACCT UK and their mission to help young people build confidence and resilience, improve their mental and physical wellbeing, develop new skills and, above all, access life-changing adventures that might otherwise be out of reach.
“At Dyno-Rod, we’re passionate about investing in the next generation of future leaders. Through our world-class training and mentorship programmes, we see first-hand how the right support can unlock potential and open doors. That’s why this partnership was a no-brainer for us. Our values and mission align perfectly with Jordan’s, as an inspirational role model, and with ACCT UK’s commitment to ensuring every young person, regardless of background, has the chance to take on extraordinary challenges and discover what they’re truly capable of.”
Over the next year, Dyno-Rod will work with its network of over 50 franchise offices, and their 12,000+ engineers and support staff, to choose cadets from various regions to take part in the expedition. Cadets will be selected based on their commitment, character and personal development throughout the project.
Throughout 2027, 20 chosen cadets will receive essential training before choosing the final 10 to join Wylie in Kathmandu, Nepal the following summer, and taking on a once-in-a-lifetime trek to the Everest Base Camp. Wylie will then attempt to summit the highest peak on earth.
Xtreme Everest marks Wylie’s third year supporting ACCT UK as his chosen charity. Through his expeditions and fundraising initiatives, he has raised over £90,000 to date.
Dyno-Rod’s successful 2025 partnership on ‘Antarctic Odyssey’ saw the franchisor generate strong national media coverage, broadcast exposure and significant digital engagement. It also highlighted the brand’s commitment to supporting purpose-led initiatives in communities across the UK by helping to inspire the next generation of leaders and give back to society in a meaningful way.
When done correctly, partnerships of this nature can be transformative for Franchisors, Franchisees and local communities alike.
