Kebab franchise to deliver more punch for Taylor

German Doner Kebab backs world champion boxer ahead of title-defence in Glasgow.

German Doner Kebab (GDK) has once again joined forces with light-welterweight world champ Josh Taylor ahead of his fight against Jack Catterall on Saturday, February 26th. This much-anticipated bout takes place at the Hydro Arena in Glasgow where Taylor and his English opponent will do battle for the WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO light-welterweight titles – all currently held by the Scot.

Taylor, 31, is undefeated as a professional, winning all previous 18 fights, while Chorley-born Catterall is unbeaten in 26. Taylor, who was born in East Lothian and won a Commonwealth Games gold medal in Glasgow eight years ago, said: “I’m happy to be teaming up with German Doner Kebab all over again. It’s been an amazing partnership, their support is unmatched, and I’m looking forward to doing them and every one of my supporters proud on fight night.”

Daniel Bunce, GDK‘s managing director for the UK and Europe, added: “We’re delighted to partner with Scotland’s boxing world champion, Josh Taylor. We are proud to be teaming-up with Josh for this historic sporting event, and we are confident that he will bring home the win.

“Our game-changing kebabs have revolutionised the kebab market in the UK and we are committed to exploring new partnerships going forward. Our kebabs are freshly prepared in front of our customers, using premium lean, succulent meats, along with fresh local vegetables. They are served in handmade toasted breads with unique signature sauces.

“The brand has over 100 restaurants worldwide as it continues to bring the GDK experience to more locations across the globe.” With its UK headquarters in Glasgow, the franchise has grown at great pace in the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Ireland, Sweden, Canada and United States.

German Doner Kebab opened its first restaurant in Berlin 33 years ago, and spent the first decade developing its products and recipes, while creating its own unique blend of spices. Meats are imported directly from Germany, while the handmade bread is prepared and baked daily. The company is owned by the Hero Brands Group.

As for the forthcoming fight, southpaw Taylor is three inches taller than Catterall who is making a first attempt at a world title. Both have won 13 of their pro battles via a knock-out, with this top-of-the-bill fight being screened live on Sky Sports.
