Home Instead expand digital service

Warrington-based franchise continues to lead the way in using technology to improve quality of life for clients.

Leading home care franchise Home Instead is taking the digital route to improve the well-being of their clients. The national home care provider has launched a Digital Health Library, which is a collection of specially designed apps covering a wide range of topics.

This ground-breaking service is the first of its kind in the senior care sector, and will be exclusively available to Home Instead‘s franchise network and their clients. The carefully curated library contains a wide range of engaging apps which cover subjects such as mental stimulation, nutrition and physical exercise – among others. Always innovative in their approach to providing top quality care, Home Instead has teamed-up with ORCHA (Organisation for the Review of Care and Health Apps) to build, develop and promote this excellent new service.

ORCHA have earned a reputation as being world leaders in health app reviews and prescription services. These apps offer new ways for clients to improve their health and mental well-being, and Ruth Brown, Director of Business Development at Home Instead, said: “Everything that we do as a brand is motivated by our mission to change the face of ageing.

“Technology will never replace person to person contact but we recognise that it can bring huge benefits to our clients’ lives – particularly in the hours when our care providers are not present. Our franchise office network is really excited about this latest initiative which demonstrates our commitment to helping our elderly clients, while assisting franchisees to differentiate the services they are offering.”

Home Instead has been monitoring the growing digital market for a number of months and undertook hours of analysis before identifying the best options available, ahead of building the Digital Health Library. Ruth added: “While there are thousands of apps, there is no regulation, making it hard for older people and their families to find solutions that are safe, effective, easy to use and a good match.

“This is why Home Instead has joined forces with ORCHA, the world’s leading health app evaluation and advisory organisation. They have an impressive track record, conducting reviews for government organisations across Europe, the Middle East and Australasia.” In the UK, ORCHA regularly conduct reviews for NHS Digital, as well as many NHS providers. NHS England has welcomed ORCHA into its National Innovation Accelerator Programme.

Home Instead‘s clients, and their families, are already familiar with a number of apps which were especially created for them, and installed onto ready to use tablets. The franchise, which was founded in the United States and has its UK headquarters in Warrington, specialise in offering home care and companionship for older people. They currently have 217 offices across the UK, with many more territories still available, along with a number of resale opportunities
