With a footfall of 94.4 million, Warrens Bakery is now serving customers in Liverpool Street Station with an affordable range of Cornish pasties, artisan baked goods and freshly brewed hot drinks, including an upscale coffee offering thanks to its recent partnership with UK roastery experts Bridge Coffee. Meanwhile, the station outlet has a custom-branded Café Racer coffee machine of the highest specification, designed to keep up with the busiest service environments.
Warren Bakery’s first London travel site at Liverpool Street confirms its continued expansion beyond the UK high street with new franchise openings and opportunities in railway and petrol stations, motorway services, hospital cafes and retail parks. This new location follows the success of its railway shops in Basingstoke, Slough, Cardiff and Bath.
In addition to its expansion into UK railway stations, it also has a growing number of franchise stores in SGN Retail petrol station forecourts – its most recent located at the BP Service Station in Calcot, Reading. These multiple sites demonstrate its ability to deliver speed of service, quality and operational consistency.
Positioning is key for the company in the bakery and café market where it bridges the gap between value-led bakery chains and premium café bakeries. Sitting comfortably between Greggs and Gail’s, it delivers an accessible price point while offering an elevated food and coffee experience. This positioning allows it to attract a wide demographic, from commuters and families to customers seeking better-quality coffee and freshly baked food on the go.
The brand was first established on the cobbled streets of St. Just in Cornwall when two Cornish families, the Warrens and the Harveys, united in marriage in 1860 to share their love for baking and brought together a host of artisan baking skills. Over 160 years later, it now has 46 UK bakery stores.
As Warren Bakery’s CEO Mark Sullivan comments, “Our railway station stores in Bath, Basingstoke, Slough and Cardiff are popular amongst commuters and travellers, so we’re excited to grow further in this area by opening a flagship shop in the UK’s busiest railway station. Our plan is to expand our presence in other London travel locations as well as other roadside and destination locations with franchise partners in the coming months.”
