You’re never too busy to celebrate the small wins in your franchise network

Running a franchise often means juggling countless responsibilities – from staffing and compliance to customer communication and day-to-day operations

You’re never too busy to celebrate the small wins in your franchise network

With so much to manage, it can be tempting to only focus on the major milestones. But it’s important to celebrate the smaller, everyday successes too.

Whether it’s positive customer feedback, a team member hitting a personal goal or simply getting through a challenging week – these are all moments that deserve recognition.

Here, Grace Cole, managing director of Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries, shares why celebrating small wins is so important within a franchise network – and how Monkey Puzzle Riverside’s recent first anniversary is a perfect example of what it means to reflect, recognise and move forward with purpose.

Franchising is, of course, about growth and consistency – but it’s also about people. The effort they put in each day, the small steps they take and the progress that builds over time. These things matter. Small wins like, in our case, great parent reviews, a team member gaining a new qualification or one of our settings reaching its occupancy targets, may not seem headline-worthy, but they’re powerful. They keep your team motivated, help franchisees see how far they’ve come and build a culture of encouragement and pride across the whole network.

The best part is, recognising these wins doesn’t need to be complicated – a quick thank you, a shout-out in a meeting or a note in a newsletter can have a real impact.

For example, one of our settings, Monkey Puzzle Riverside, recently celebrated their first anniversary – a fantastic achievement in itself, but also a moment to look back on everything they’ve accomplished over the past year.

They’ve grown strong relationships with local families, expanded their capacity with the opening of a new nursery room and are already preparing to open a fourth room at their setting. Their 1st birthday celebration wasn’t solely to mark a date in the calendar – it was about reflecting on their journey so far. It was about the children who’ve flourished, the families they’ve supported and the team members – like manager Saskia and deputy manager Roxy – who’ve stepped into new leadership roles. That’s what truly makes it worth celebrating.

It’s important therefore that every franchisee – whether newly launched or well established – should feel encouraged to recognise their wins, both big and small. A culture of recognition doesn’t just happen overnight, but it’s something we can all help to create.

How? Highlight successes in newsletters, celebrate achievements on calls with the wider network, showcase best practices at conferences or hold internal awards for standout people and teams. These moments of recognition create a ripple effect – when one setting wins, others are more likely to be inspired to reflect on their own progress too.

It’s especially important for newer franchisees, who benefit from seeing what’s possible and feeling part of a supportive, encouraging franchise network.

Celebrating progress really does build stronger teams, improve staff retention, strengthen your reputation in the local community and give you – as a business owner – that extra boost of motivation. Every step forward, no matter how small, is worth a moment of pride!

This is how we continue to build a franchise network grounded in people, purpose and pride. Monkey Puzzle Riverside’s first anniversary is one of many stories that show the power of pausing to reflect and celebrate.

So, whether you’re at the beginning of your journey or a few years down the line, take the time to mark those wins, no matter how big or small. You’ve earned it.
