A network that offers a helping hound

As a franchisor, one of the most important aspects of running a successful franchise is maintaining a positive reputation in the communities you serve. One of the best ways to achieve this is by giving back to those communities through charitable activities and initiatives. Not only does this help to build goodwill and a positive brand image, but it also demonstrates a commitment to social responsibility and offers a helping hand to those in need. Whether you’re a new franchisee looking to establish your presence in a new market, or a seasoned franchisor seeking to enhance your brand reputation, Kevin Thackrah, Director of Petpals, offers his insights to help you make a positive impact in the communities you serve, and he speaks to the franchisees who are a testament to doing just that.

A growing number of Petpals business owners are placing importance on supporting their communities through charitable initiatives that raise money and awareness for the causes they and their communities care about most. From supporting local animal shelters to fundraising for essential health causes, our franchisees are making a real difference in their communities, and I am proud to support and encourage their efforts. Most recently, three members of our network have been going above and beyond to ensure that their communities receive Petpals’ award-winning services while demonstrating their commitment to giving back to their community.

Just a few months into operating his Petpals business in Christchurch, Robbie Brown recently used the success of his business for good by donating to a local animal rehoming centre. On his donation, Robbie said, “As a Petpals business owner, I see first-hand the impact that my business has on the local community. That’s why it’s important for me to not only provide excellent service to our customers but also give back through other means. I recently donated to FurBuddies Animal Rehoming Centre, a fantastic charity that works to rehome dogs in my local area. Every dog deserves a loving home and proper care, and I feel that it’s my duty as an animal lover and Petpals franchisee to support organisations that work tirelessly to make that a reality. For me, it isn’t just about writing a cheque, it’s about making a difference in animals’ lives and showing my community I care.”

When franchisees support local causes, they are seen as a positive force in the community. This can lead to increased customer loyalty as people feel good about supporting a business doing good things for their area. Maxine Neal from Cardiff has gone from personal fitness challenges to undertaking a 5k dog run to raise money and awareness for causes that mean a lot to her community. “I’m always looking for ways to get involved in charitable activities and bring awareness to causes that show that we’re not just dog walkers, we’re people that care about people too,” Maxine tells me. “I recently raised money for Cancer Research, a cause close to Petpals Cardiff’s heart, as one of our clients is currently undergoing treatment. I’ve also supported animal charities such as Blue Cross and The Dog’s Trust. As a franchisee, I take pride in not only running a successful business but also in supporting charitable initiatives that benefit those around us.”

Charitable activities and initiatives can have a real impact on the lives of those in need. Whether it’s supporting a local food bank or fundraising for medical research, franchisees have the power to make a positive difference in their communities. People are more likely to do business with companies that are seen as socially responsible, and giving back to the community is a great way to demonstrate that. “Preparing for the London Marathon has been both a physical and mental challenge, but it’s all worth it when I think about the impact I can make on my community through raising money and awareness for charity,” says Tracey, Franchise Support Manager. “I am proud to be a part of a franchise that cares deeply about the welfare of pets and the wider community as a whole, and I hope my participation in this year’s marathon raises important funds for The Dog’s Trust, which is such a worthwhile charity and inspires more charitable activities within our network.”

Community involvement is rewarding for franchisees and the communities they serve. By giving back, franchisees can enhance their brand reputation, increase customer loyalty, boost employee engagement, and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in need.
