Following the sad death of Queen Elizabeth II, at the age of 96 on September 8th, Cafe2U received a telephone call asking if they would be prepared to provide a service for military personnel on the day of her funeral.

A spokesperson from Cafe2U explains: “On Sunday, September 11th, we were contacted by one of Her Majesty’s servants with a slightly unusual brief. We were asked if we could provide a service for approximately 3,500 military personnel and dignitaries who were taking part in the funeral procession. And, of course, we were truly honoured to be of service.

“We were asked to provide a fleet of six Cafe2U vans which were to be located at different points within Wellington Barracks on Birdcage Walk. This was the location from where the procession began. Because our vans are electric, this meant that we were also able to offer service inside the barracks, as well as outside.

“The schedule for rehearsals was exhaustive and those taking part were extremely appreciative of the light relief afforded by a coffee and a pastry at three o’clock in the morning.

“It was a truly outstanding effort from the six selected franchise partners involved in the operation. They worked seamlessly as a team and showed levels of professionalism and respect that were simply on a higher level.”

But that’s not the end of the story. Cafe2U have since been asked to participate in the King’s coronation, in May of next year.

The spokesperson continues: “We have now been asked to assist on an even larger scale. This time it’s for a truly joyous occasion, not a sad one, and once again we are honoured to be involved on a day of momentous Royal history. We are delighted to be of service and looking forward to taking part in what is sure to be a wonderful occasion on a global scale.”
