January generally isn’t known as the most productive month: we’re still in post-Christmas mode and the weather is too bleak to be thinking on the bright side. This hasn’t stopped former Elite Franchise cover star Trevor Brocklebank, the CEO and co-founder of Home Instead, however. Not only is the home care company the first national home care provider to receive an ‘outstanding’ judgement in the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) new rating system, but Brocklebank has been elected to the board of directors of the bfa. Brocklebank has also been appointed as the committee chair for quality standards at the bfa for 2015.”
Speaking of CQC’S rating, Brocklebank said: “At Home Instead, we’re incredibly proud that one of the first ‘outstandings’ has been awarded to our franchise office, recognising our very personal brand of home care.” He praised CQC’s new rating system, saying “it places more emphasis on the person receiving the care”.
Home Instead were inspected on five key but tough criteria of service including safety, effectiveness and responsiveness and excelled in each. The CQC report was full of overwhelmingly positive feedback from clients and caregivers, with one client saying: “The service is beyond our expectations.””
With his appointment at the bfa, Brocklebank follows in the footsteps of Cath Charlton, franchise owner for the Home Instead Senior Care Wirral office. Charlton was invited to join the board in 2012 after being awarded the bfa HSBC Franchisee of the Year in 2011 with her husband Mike and was one of the first franchisee representatives to sit on the bfa board.
Speaking of his appointment, Brocklebank said: “Eight years ago when I launched Home Instead Senior Care in the UK with my wife Sam, we had no experience in franchising and were heavily reliant on support from bfa members. Now we have become more established, it is a huge privilege to reciprocate this support by becoming a full board member of the bfa and work with Cath and the rest of the board to actively promote franchising across the UK.”
In all, this is a really good start to 2015 for Home Instead and long may it continue.”
