Juggling work and family commitments can be tough, but for one network member of Platinum Property Partners it’s been further complicated by the effects of the pandemic. Less than two weeks before the first lengthy lockdown was announced in March 2020, Natalie Windsor completed the purchase of her maiden property.

Natalie, along with her auntie Sue, had become fully-fledged franchise partners late in 2019, and immediately set about searching for their first property. And with the assistance of one of Platinum‘s buying mentors, they completed their first purchase just 10 days before the UK was plunged into lockdown.

Although Natalie and Sue had a property they wished to convert into a luxurious home for six housemates, they were forced to down tools because of the Government’s stringent lockdown rules.

It was a frustrating period for Natalie, who explained: “Not only did we have this property, and no opportunity to press on with its renovation, but I was also combining my day job with the home schooling of my daughter, while also looking after my three-year-old son.

“Evenings were spent looking at floor plans, architect’s drawings, and quotes. But while it was a hugely busy and stressful time, it did allow us to really study the finer points of the property. It allowed us to think about what our potential tenants would want and need in a post-Covid world.

“Doing a property investment strategy, when our plans were to create a property suitable for six people, is quite complex. So having my Platinum mentors with me was important.” And just before Christmas 2021, Natalie and Sue’s first project was complete, allowing six housemates to rent this top-end co-living home.

Natalie, who is also Platinum‘s head of partnerships, added: “I feel really proud to have played my part in creating an incredible home for six people. It’s been an incredibly tough two years for us all. A couple of the guys living in our first property had been through some terrible times recently, so having the stability of an amazing home with great people was a real boost for them.

“As a business, our numbers stacked up really well and have enabled us to start work on two more properties nearby. There’s no way we could have built a three-property portfolio so quickly, and during the pandemic, without all the expertise and guidance provided by Platinum. Properties two and three are already undergoing renovation, with both of these likely to open their front doors to a new batch of housemates later this year.”
