PGH Beegone Franchise is a unique opportunity favoured by Veterans

A PGH Beegone Franchise specialises in pest control and prevention and also saving honeybees through live removal and comb extraction. This is a unique opportunity as it comprises two brands under one franchise, PGH Pest Prevention and Beegone, both operating with an environmentally friendly ethos.

PGH Beegone Franchise recruited Matt Wall from Bath who is ex-military to open his own franchise business. Matt looked at over one hundred franchise options, narrowing it down to eight. PGH Beegone was not even on his radar until he saw an advert in his inbox that spoke directly to him.

All the franchises he had researched had too many negative aspects but the PGH Beegone option resonated with him immediately because it offered: (1) No two days the same, (2) always thinking on your feet and (3) problem-solving.

When we asked Matt what he enjoys about his business he said, “I like that I am constantly moving around, meeting people and there are new challenges each day”.

Matt joined the forces when he was 18 years old. He has served in Kosovo, Canada, Germany, Poland, Oman, Kuwait and Iraq. He also spent 3 years in Afghanistan as a white fleet military contractor. He is a decorated soldier who was also given the honour of being a Pallbearer of the Queen Mother’s coffin in 2002.

When Matt left the military he was suffering from PTSD and low self-esteem. Transitioning into civilian life was challenging for him and he moved jobs often. When he started his own business in the automotive trade, he found he was happier but the work was not varied and challenging enough. Matt also found working on his own business lonely.

Finally, now working on his own franchise business, he has the best of both worlds, running his own business while having support and being part of a bigger team. As the saying goes, “you can be in business for yourself, but not by yourself.”

When transitioning into civilian life, it can be a huge change from taking orders to listening to advice. Matt says, “It is sometimes easier for me to be told the best way to do a task than to decide for myself”. Working within a franchise allows you to use the franchisor’s best practices and implement them for yourself.

For veterans, franchise opportunities can be ideal as they require the same skillsets and values that made them successful in the forces, such as integrity, commitment, attention to detail and professionalism. All of these will lead to dedication in building a business and excellent customer service.

Perhaps you have tried working for yourself or working for someone else and it hasn’t quite fit what you are looking for. Perhaps you are serving and looking to transition into civilian life with your own business. If this is the case, please give PGH Beegone a call to discuss whether this might be a good fit for you.
