Another successful year in difficult circumstances affirms strength of Tutor Doctor’s mission

With 2022 fast approaching, now is the perfect time to reflect on what has been yet another brilliant 12 months for our community at Tutor Doctor. Despite entering 2021 in the middle of a pandemic and lockdown, the commitment our tutors and franchisees have put into enriching the educational journey of thousands of young people around the globe is unmatched.

Successfully navigating through the difficulties of the pandemic has affirmed our mission – to change the trajectory of students’ lives through education. Here are just some of the many highlights that will continue to improve our services and business model, from the educational experience to the global operations.

Enhancement of our X-Skills programme

We understand there are two components to a successful education – academic knowledge and academic discipline. Our continued enhancements of the X-Skills programme help students build their executive functions, including goal setting, priority management, organisation and time management. After a period of online learning due to school closures, we have seen how students need development in these areas just as much as their academic learning to be well equipped for a successful future. Our ongoing commitment to helping students all over the world develop these attributes continues to move us forward as a brand.

Expansion of global tutor share programme

In response to the first lockdown in 2020, Tutor Doctor introduced the global tutor share programme – an international network of specialist tutors from all over the world devoted to helping enrich the educational journey of our students. Today, we have 130 of our franchisees and over 350 tutors involved in actively supporting students as they return to the classroom and catch up on their lost learning as a result of the pandemic.

Working more closely with schools to supply targeted support for their students

To streamline this support, we have created a Schools Task Force, a collective group of franchisees who are focused on building relationships with local schools in their communities. Two franchisees – Cambridge & Norwich and Beeston Park – were selected as Tuition Partners by the National Tutoring Programme (NTP), the UK Government-funded scheme, to address learning loss during the pandemic. 2021 has also seen the return of the Schools & Academies Show, an opportunity for us to come together with the education community for two days of learning, networking and procuring.

Committed to continuously innovating to stay current on educational news

In March this year, Tutor Doctor acquired coding franchise, Code Wiz. With a natural alignment in mission and values, the Tutor Doctor x Code Wiz partnership will allow both companies to take quantum leaps forward in achieving brand goals and reaching more students. This will be expanded into the UK in the future.

Not only do we constantly strive to improve our educational experience for students, franchise owners and tutors, we also strongly believe in growing as a business. This year, Tutor Doctor added Innovation squads – cross-functional teams that collaborate with franchisees. This addition was implemented to enhance lead generation, develop product offerings and enhance sales training practices. The franchise has also introduced performance and skill development tools for head office team members, which will then be rolled out to franchisees next year as an Academy.

Specific and unique franchisee support

The support structure we have developed at Tutor Doctor is what makes our global community so strong. From initial training and coaching to weekly development webinars and our specialist business bootcamps, there are always opportunities for our network to share ideas, learn and grow together. Our boot-camp programmes, open to all franchisees, are designed to drive development in areas of opportunity and allowed the network to connect and collaborate during the pandemic. Our annual conference held virtually on 19th August, coupled with regular regional meetings, was another opportunity to bring everyone together during a difficult period.

These standout moments from an incredibly successful year are just a small sample of our achievements and plans for how we will move forward as a brand. Reflected in our growth, the franchise has welcomed 58 new franchisees globally, 11 of which are in the UK. The brand’s footprint now extends over 700 units across 16 countries – most recently opening its first territory in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). As we continue to seek qualified, active and engaged professionals who have a passion for education, now is the perfect time to join Tutor Doctor, a sustainable and scalable business.
