If, like me, you thought TikTok was just the home of silly dances you are mistaken. When you first try TikTok it actually is full of silly dances  but after a few minutes when the algorithm kicks in and it starts to know what you ‘like’, there is a whole world of interesting and relevant content.

Of course, that could still be silly dances if you are into that stuff but in my case it’s tons of interesting short marketing lessons, psychology and lots of business content, combined with some great classic comedy clips. Just one word of warning about TikTok, it’s horribly addictive. The mistake some people make is to judge TikTok by looking at someone else’s feed (especially your children’s) because the content will not be relevant to you.

As for posting on TikTok or even starting a paid campaign, I would absolutely give it a try. Just follow the normal rules of content creation and spend a while to really understand the ‘grammar’ of the content. In order to be effective, your content should look like a TikTok video (more about that in another article).

There are many tools to help you make videos and share to the platform, for example shoutout.social. This is useful if you want a more desktop experience or need to get your videos approved by your team before posting.

If you have an easily demonstrable product then TikTok could be the ideal marketing channel for you, there is even a trend called ‘TikTok made me buy it’ for those irresistible products or services that can be demonstrated in a few seconds.
