Ever since the Original Poster Company was founded in 1991, the greetings-card franchise has been a shining example of what talented franchisors can accomplish. From expanding across the UK and beyond to recruiting skillful franchisees, the business has certainly established itself as a franchising powerhouse to be reckoned with. Recognising the success of the company, Cathay Investments 2 has just announced that it has purchased the franchise.
This news comes as the Original Poster Company is gearing up to celebrate its 26th anniversary in February. “It is our fond wish that [the Original Poster Company] thrives for the next 26 years and beyond,” said Mark Thompson, managing director at the Original Poster Company. “We were fortunate to attract Cathay to invest in the business. We feel that OPC becoming part of a larger group is the right thing to ensure the continued prosperity of OPC, our franchisees and customers.”
Cathay Investments 2 is no stranger to buying and developing established brands. Together with its sister company Cathay Investments, the business” owns several companies in the chemical and distribution industries. These include Euroresins, a Europe wide distributor of resin, glass fiber and other products for the composites industry; Lantor, a Dutch manufacturer of composite materials and cable products; Amethyst Group, a third party logistics and warehousing provider; and Perkins Group Services, a distributor of toys and stationery.
Given the scale of it, this deal is certainly something to write home about. Luckily, then that postcards is the Original Poster Company’s speciality.
