celebrates notable milestone
It’s been an excellent start to 2021 for lawn care company Greensleeves who recently announced that Neil Grainger of Hampshire had become their 100th new franchisee. Neil is the Huddersfield-based company’s newest business partner, and has already started trading in the coastal town of Bournemouth. Neil is one of four new franchisees to join Greensleeves since New Year.
David Truby, managing director of Greensleeves, enthused: “It’s been an incredible start to 2021 and reaching 100 franchisees is certainly something to celebrate. The market is buoyant and with people feeling spring is in the air, it’s a great time for our latest franchisees to launch.”
Among this new quartet is Keith Fox in Derbyshire, Radko Yordanov of Brentwood, Essex; while Ryan and Laura England have taken over an existing territory in Durham. This latest group of franchisees are either new to the gardening sector or new to business ownership and they have all recently completed their training. Greensleeves, which opened its doors in 1998, quickly became one of the UK’s premier lawn treatment providers

As for milestone-maker Neil Grainger, he’s a former engineer who decided he no longer wanted to work in a factory, so was keen to change his career. He explained: “The fact Greensleeves has reached 100 franchisees is a real testament to their team at head office. I did my research and explored my options, before settling on Greensleeves.
“It’s great that we have so many people in the network, which means I have an established group of supportive franchisees around me. They are all just an email away if ever I need their help. Back in my younger days, I worked outside. So I just wanted to get back to that and do something I enjoyed. I noticed Greensleeves were receiving rave reviews and that they had a territory open in my area. So, I plucked up the courage to make the initial enquiry.
“I’d considered starting my own business, but didn’t have any qualifications outside of engineering. Greensleeves provided the training which meant I didn’t have to be experienced in lawn care in order to join their network. I’m planning to take the business as far as I can over the next five years and establish Greensleeves as the go-to lawn care provider in Bournemouth. If all goes to plan, there’s potential for me to pass the business on to my son when he’s old enough.”
And MD David Truby is hoping Greensleeves will go from strength-to-strength in 2021: “We’ve proved that we are recession proof, even in the most trying of times. Last year was record-breaking for the franchise network and, as the spring weather is starting to break through, both enquiry levels and new customer acquisition is up on this time last year.”
