Kool entrepreneur bags huge Benelux deal

Dutch investor Jordy Kool eyes expansion opportunities with growing global fitness brand TRIB3.

Dutch entrepreneur Jordy Kool has signed an exclusive development franchise deal with global fitness brand TRIB3 to roll out 20 gyms across Belgium, Netherlands and Luxemburg over the next five years. The experienced and successful businessman has secured the rights for the entire Benelux region and will open the first six stores over the next 24 months. The Benelux agreement is an exciting next step in the global expansion of the TRIB3 network.

This latest agreement allows Kool to extend his influence within the boutique fitness brand. Earlier this year the Dutchman’s investment group, Iron Asset Management, listed TRIB3 as being part of its portfolio. When up-and-running the new sites will be managed by the portfolio of the Urban Gym Group (UGG) of which Kool is one of two co-chief executives. The other is UGG owner and founder Marjolijn Meijer.

Marjolijn said: “We are really excited to bring TRIB3 to the Benelux area, and to be part of our diverse portfolio of fitness brands. We see huge potential for the concept and are cultivating great working relationships with the TRIB3 team. We are preparing for the first wave of rollout and can’t wait to immerse ourselves in the brand.”

Jordy added: “I became co-CEO of the Urban Gym Group a few months ago and I have always viewed the Benelux market as having great potential for this brand. It will sit proudly alongside our existing portfolio. I’d been in talks with TRIB3‘s chairman, Jonathan Fisher, since late 2020 and I really connected with both the concept and their executive team.

“I noticed straight away the commercial opportunity created by the uniqueness of the TRIB3 brand and business model. Having invested into TRIB3, I am now looking forward to the next phase of the partnership. My team will be really hands-on as we drive further international expansion of the concept.”

Kevin Yates, chief executive of TRIB3, says: “It’s seriously exciting to be bringing our workout experience to the Benelux region. And it’s even more thrilling to do so in partnership with someone like Jordy – with the wealth of experience he brings. The first TRIB3 store in the region will open later this year in Amsterdam. Our property team are already in advanced discussions regarding several other locations.

“Jordy and I share a lot of the same values and we both see this as a massive opportunity for growth. The boutique sector is booming right now, as people look to reconnect following severe restrictions in many countries over the past 15 months, due to the pandemic. I anticipate a really momentous few years for our brand as we rollout new territories and expand TRIB3‘s global network.”
