Half-a-dozen franchisees join company that teaches languages to children through song, stories, games and drama.
Language specialists Lingotot have been celebrating the arrival of six new franchisees. The Newcastle-based franchise made the announcement last week, which brings the total number of business partners in their UK network to almost 60.
Joining this growing brand are: Carol Houghton (Muswell Hill, London), Charlotte Lavery (Swansea), Daniel Corcoran and Jake Gargan (Birkenhead), Lily Beveridge (Prudhoe & Hexham) and Yanay González Fernández (North-East Sheffield).
Lingotot teaches foreign languages to children aged between 0 and 12. The network has more than 130 qualified teachers, with youngsters learning through songs, stories, games, drama and play.
Among the languages taught are French, Spanish, German, Italian, Arabic, Welsh and Mandarin, as well as English as a second language. The Lingotot method of learning was devised by its founder Angela Sterling who is a fully qualified teacher of languages. Learning makes use of active, communicative and interactive teaching methods which come naturally to young learners.
Speaking about the company’s recent intake of new franchisees, Angel said: “We had a fantastic weekend of training. They are all wonderful people with a real passion for what they do. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of them. Exciting times are ahead.”
Angela started Lingotot when her eldest daughter was just seven weeks old. She remains chief executive of the franchise, having previously been Head of Languages in several schools across the UK, as well as overseas.
Lingotot began life as a temporary, locally-based business in the North-East and has now expanded across the UK and Ireland. When the pandemic struck, the company navigated its way by introducing innovative measures such as an online platform, and creative outdoor learning environments.
Lingotot became a franchised business in 2010 and is a member of the British Franchise Association. More than 20,000 children use their services every week.
