Shuttercraft take aim at Scotland

Leading shutters and blinds’ franchise seeks ‘piece of the action’ north of the border.

Spurred on by a sizeable growth in new companies opening in Scotland, the Hampshire-based franchise Shuttercraft is keen to establish business partners north of Hadrian’s Wall. During the pandemic-dominated year of 2020, more than 7,000 new businesses began trading in Scotland.

And with these figures in mind Shuttercraft, whose headquarters are in Winchester, is seeking to secure a foothold in this exciting and flourishing market. As of yet, Shuttercraft do not have any franchisees in Scotland but are hoping this will change soon. In a bid to reach north of the border, the company recently released details of seven available territories in the country.

Lisa Stead, franchise manager of Shuttercraft, said: “So far, our franchise network in Scotland has not yet been established but we’ve recognised that there is a great deal of potential for our franchise model.

“This is why we’re looking to tap into this entrepreneurial spirit, which is so clearly evident in Scotland. There are 2.6 million homes in Scotland, so the market potential is huge and we want a piece of the action. Our business isn’t about a man with a van, but about managing a business that you can grow and develop. So if anyone is seriously thinking about becoming their own boss, we have exciting business opportunities now available in Scotland.

“We know our model works, and for dynamic individuals looking for a management opportunity, this is the perfect solution. Over the last couple of years, interior shutters have been the fastest growing window coverings market in England. And to demonstrate its huge potential, the entire market was worth £1.52bn in 2019.”

As for the money stats, existing Shuttercraft partners do, on average, achieve net annual profits of around £150k by the end of the third year. The company claim that 40% of their businesses earn considerably more than this.

Those who sign on the dotted line, and become a Shuttercraft franchisee, will be given comprehensive training which covers both the management part of the business, as well as instructions on fitting shutters and blinds. Lisa explained: “No stone is left unturned, because we will provide training and support covering every aspect of the operation.”

Marketing is also taken care of, with Shuttercraft‘s head office team playing a vital role. Lisa added: “We have a dedicated group of marketing professionals who will run marketing campaigns for you. They will set up digital advertising and social media campaigns, as well as managing Google ads and Pay Per Click. And most important of all, we will generate leads on your behalf to help you hit the ground running. We’ll identify the most profitable territories in Scotland and work with you to maximise sales.”
