Successful children’s brand becomes a franchise

What do singer Kimberley Walsh, dancer Ashley Banjo and England footballer Harry Maguire have in common? Answer: Their children have all been entertained by The Kids Corner.

The Kids Corner is proud to announce that they have become a franchise, having launched their new business model in January 2022. Founded by the husband and wife team of Remen and Sunny Bains, The Kids Corner has grown quickly across the UK and the couple now have plans to extend it even further.

Among the main packages they offer, the company hire out soft play areas – suitable for both indoor and outdoor fun – as well as providing entertainment for children at weddings, christenings and corporate events. They can also be hired out for birthdays, with Remen and Sunny deciding to start their business after struggling to keep their own children entertained when they themselves attended parties and functions.

Remen and Sunny met at university, and their many clients include a number of UK celebrities. Among those to hire out The Kids Corner are Girls Aloud singer Kimberley Walsh, Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, former pop star Myleene Klass and dancer Ashley Banjo. Their equipment is designed to entertain children at any event or function. They provide climbing frames, ball pits, slides and even a spongy ice cream van.

Speaking about the company’s growth, Remen said: “For our own kids’ birthdays, we’d reluctantly book bouncy castles for parties but were always a bit disappointed at how worn out they looked.

“We have also booked out soft play centres, and loved it there, but these huge centres would give us anxiety. We were concerned the kids would get lost, and we’d struggle to find them. There was also an issue with overall cleanliness. It was at this point that The Kids Corner was born.”

The demand for their packages has been consistently high, which is why Remen and Sunny decided to embrace the concept of franchising. They have already attracted interest from potential franchisees abroad.

Remen added: “There have been so many highlights for us along this journey, for which we are so grateful. But one of our biggest achievements is being able to grow the business while also parenting our two young boys. The boys have been involved along the way, watching the business grow and they are now our biggest critics.

“We have worked with a franchise consultancy to develop a franchise package that allows potential franchisees to build a business. This could either be full-time or also part-time, because that’s how we started.

“That’s why we want to offer flexible packages that encourage a positive work-life balance, which is so important.” The couple stressed that other benefits include low operating costs, high margins, along with full training and support. Equipment is provided, while marketing support is available.
