The leisure industry’s new craze, called Boom: Battle Baris a games-focused arena that specialises in fun. This emerging franchise business, which provides a distraction from life’s more serious issues, is preparing to open 18 new sites during 2021.

From the depths of despair caused by Covid-19, a new pastime is emerging around the country. During 2020, the cities of Norwich, Cardiff and Liverpool were selected as the venues for the first three Boom: Battle Bar projects. Not like anything witnessed before, Boom: Battle Bar merges a number of bizarre activities, with what is a typically sociable good night out with your friends. Included in the fun and games are the activities of ‘axe throwing’, ‘nine-hole crazier golf’, ‘boules’, ‘electric darts’, ‘ping-pong’, ‘shuffleboard’ and ‘pool’.

And you can order a drink too, either alcoholic or non-alcoholic. All in all, this brand new concept has become one of the latest, remarkably creative, but enjoyable forms of socialising ever witnessed within the leisure industry. Owned by AGD Leisure Group, this growing franchise (Boom: Battle Bar) has listed 18 new sites they are planning to launch during 2021 – which will follow hot on the heels of their existing three successful outlets. AGD Leisure Group also own Flip Out trampoline parks of which there are 30 in different parts of the country.

For those keen to open their own BoomBattle Bar business, franchises start at £50,000. And there are also extensive packages available for financing the project. These centres typically operate in spaces of between 6,000 and 15,000 square feet. Elliott Shuttleworth, founder and chief executive officer, says: “The UK and worldwide market for social, competitive leisure has just started to explode and I am pleased to say that Boom is at the forefront of this revolution. We are leading the way with new ideas, new games and new technology to ensure we carry on spearheading unique developments within the industry, giving an exceptional customer experience along the way.

“We’re passionate about creating environments that both customers and staff want to experience again and again. It’s a place to do all your favourite things, with all your favourite people. Our franchising model has been developed using the experience and knowledge gathered from our other, successful franchises in the leisure industry. We’re extremely proud to have partnered with the best designers, contractors and suppliers in the business, so if you think Boom might be right for you, you’ll be joining a team that constantly strives to be the best.”

Shuttleworth added: “A lot of bars are now bars with a game space in them.  We’re completely different in that we’re a games space with a bar in.  We believe that being a ‘games-first’ venue sets us apart and creates a completely different, immersive environment that produces incredible experiences.”
