Avoiding being cancelled?

Cancel culture is rife, one minute you are the nations sweethearts and the next you are news fodder for jumping a queue. There are  more and more celebrities and social media influencers getting cancelled for breaking the rules. As humans we all have an innate sense of justice and fair play and don’t take kindly to people who don’t play fair. Especially where there excuses are somewhat dubious.

Cancel culture is not just for the rich and famous. Individuals and companies can be cancelled by their customers or even by their franchisees. As the impact of being cancelled is getting bigger and the message can spread like wildfire over social it may be time to look through your business practices to make sure there is nothing that could cause people to get upset.

It’s often the small things, like one small line item on an invoice that can rub people up the wrong way. Remember the restaurant who tried to charge a small fee for every time a waiter visited a table!

Things are getting tight and it’s tempting to add some small extras or increase prices here and there but remember it’s the small things that can get us cancelled and once the crowd turns nasty things can go south pretty quickly.
