Pizza brand celebrates highest-ever ranking

Papa John’s named sixth best UK brand in this year’s annual Elite Franchise Top 100.

Despite the economic carnage suffered by many businesses during 2021, it has turned out to be a milestone year for Papa John’s. Not only did they open their 500th UK outlet during the past 12 months, they also registered their highest-ever position in the Elite Franchise Top 100 list.

Ranked at No 6, Papa John’s is not only the leading pizza brand in the EF100, they are also the second-highest ranked food franchise. Justin Gilbert, senior operations director with Papa John’s UK, said: “It’s an incredible honour for the brand to be recognised in this way. This achievement underlines the hard work from every member of our team over the past few years.

“We are an innovative and expanding franchise which contributes to the communities we serve. Our goal is to continue developing our high street presence and to extend our partnerships with third party leisure venues. Our aim is to ensure that our valued customers can enjoy their favourite pizza treat at Papa John’s, wherever and whenever they choose. And we will continue to focus on creating opportunities for prospective franchisees during 2022.”

Scott English, brand director of Elite Franchise, added: “We feel that Papa John’s has well and truly earned their place in the EF Top 100. This definitive league table of top 100 franchisors shows just what our country has to offer. With every passing year, the ranking becomes more competitive, and this year was certainly no exception. Our panel of industry-leading judges were called upon to undergo the difficult task of ranking the crème de la crème of UK franchising.

“We take into account sales and growth figures, as well as the training and support on offer for each company’s network of franchisees. By reaching this elevated position, it is a testament to all that Papa John’s has achieved. They have consistently demonstrated a gold-standard level of franchising.”

The EF100, which was established in 2017 in association with HSBC, recognises the sector’s leading businesses. These are ranked according to longevity, size, contribution to the community, franchisee support, innovation, plus their plans for future development.

The company provides franchisees with world-class support, comprehensive training and national marketing, as well as all the assistance needed to get their successful Papa John’s business up and running.

Papa John’s was founded in the United States in 1984, and now has over 5,000 stores across more than 40 international markets and territories.
